Christistruth02: Do you know what it takes to feed almost a million chicken? This is not your average 1000 birds farm. This is massive. |
Arostar2023: 4:01am On May 14 |
baralatie: If you have ever managed a poultry you will know how. Those animals eat non stop...so long as there is light. |
Arostar2023: 4:03am On May 14 |
lazkizz: Not as simple as that...milk is perishable. And it will cost you a lot to preserve and ship it to those poor countries you mentioned. As for the chickens, they were not table size yet and so cannot be fed to humans. 1 Like |

This company is wicked n not profit oriented They could have sold off those chickens to the women who sells chickens to people who rear them n eventually sell them at maturity. It’s just sheer wickedness. A full grown broiler is sold between 100rand to 130rand. It’s cheaper if it’s reared by individuals who just want to make extra income by investing into rearing day old broilers or 1 month old. They sell btw 70 to 80 rand |

Arostar2023: It was easier to use few employees to leave Water hyacinth and drums of water in their Barns than killing them all In fact if hose pipe had been used to water the sawdust and manure under their feet it would have produced enough maggots and bugs for them to survive on A man in this very forum went somewhere and something that was beyond his power delayed for about 2 days and so was unable to get back to his poultry on time . On getting back home he expected some of his poultry birds to be dead , he said instead they didn't even miss him or notice his absence because after having more than enough water they were picking through the sawdust and eating all the insects underneath it !! Another Kenyan said he had no money left to feed his poultry birds and he decided that instead of leaving them to starve and perish he would release them into the fields just to give some of them a chance to live he said but they were all coming back in the evening and after over a week he noticed that they hadn't lost any weight. He then followed them to find out what they were eating that was keeping them alive and healthy. He now discovered that his entire poultry herd had all been following the local Chickens in the area to go to eat the Water hyacinth and other weeds at the side of the river and that was what kept them fat and healthy That was how he started his Water Hyacinth chicken feed business |

When a greedy person entered poultry business, the result will be obvious. I mean do you know what it takes to feed just 10k birds alone? Not to talk of 300k plus. Lol. Anyway the have learnt there lesson, though it is foolish to euthanize birds that can be free ranged and some shared to local farmers in the communities. |
eepeepook: 2:36pm On May 14 |
AcrossUNIVERSE:That many birds set free will destroy the ecosystem. If things work as planned, chickens will become a pest. |
eepeepook: 2:40pm On May 14 |
It's obvious that here have never seen more than a hundred chickens in their lives. One thousand of those things will kill any insect and small rodent population in a village talk less of three hundred and fifty thousand of them. On one hand, the firm cared only about profit, hence abandoning the livestock. On another, the carcasses can be recycled into fertilizer. E sure me die say na oyibo get the farm.

Christistruth02: I understand where you're coming from, but, like I said earlier, this case is that of a poultry farms on an industrial scale. Also most modern poultry farms follow some standardized practices. You just don't wake up and start feeding their chickens maggots and water hyacinth. They may not quality inspections after that... 1 Like |

baralatie:Business is a risky and dangerous thing. Maybe they were running the business using borrowed money and profit was not coming in as planned. Many things could have gone wrong including fund mismanagement. |
baralatie(m): 11:21am On May 15 |
neonix:A 500000 poultry is a serious profit venture Unless as you indicated the fund management cycle of the poultry farm was underestimated |

mastermaestro: They didn't euthanize them all; they only euthanized those that been cannibalised and could no longer survive/those that had gone so hungry that they might not recover. |
Just arrived!! Driptapes(4000m) & Spraytubes (1000m)!!
