They should make it daily payments, afterall the touts there collect owomida daily. You come back and your landlord will be there to collect your rents before you can enter house to sleep, failure to pay, sleep outside. 5 Likes |

Monthly is to the advantage of the landlord. No need waiting for a year to give notice of price increment. The landlord can now increase rent with 2 months notice or 1 month.

It is good development but what will happen to people whose salary finishes before month end? How are they going to cope?

Make una dey play...do tenant's really want monthly rent..in my view dey don't they just want affordable housing. Pressure of monthly rent go surplus cos na them go beg to pay 1 to 2years Disadvantages 1) una see how fuel price dey change everywhere na so rent go dey change every month 2) landlord go just dey troway ppl load 3) some properties are used for dual purpose housing and business so how e go be if one month after renting landlord no like you again you business go crash cos u fit n see office space for that area wey go fit u budget or specification 4) children schooling can be affected 5) constant pressure..cos dem must not sack you oo and noting must do your shop 6) wetin go happen if I buy 1000unit of light and 3 months later u give me quit notice shey landlord go refund. Advantages 1) an opportunity to test various location in your lifetime this month I wan lodge for 1 month for lekki next month I wan lodge for magodo |

jmoore: It's not a hotel. You will still sign lease contracts for for a year. You just pay month to month. If you dont pay you bill each month you risk eviction. The landlord will just get more selective about who they rent to. Show us 3-6 months bank statements. Show us your pay stubs, or tax filing. The house always wins. |

Blue3k: Exactly. You really know how it works. Don't mind the ignorant mugus up there all talking like illiterates!!! |

the price of agent , agreement and caution fees should be the target or if possible agent , agreement and caution fees should be scrapped... 5 percent of the annual rent should be what goes to the agents.. 2 Likes |

Nice moves.. In fact it will go a long way to help many who are in serious bondage with their landlords or landlady as the case maybe. This house owners this day have been walking around unregulated, imagine telling a tenant he has to pay bulk money(house rent ) at the end of every year end. Virtually threw out the flexible payment plan out of the window. There's still the one that's called Agent and agreement fees and caution fees. That agent and agreement fees is now higher than the rent of the house you as a newbie is about to occupy as a tenant. Greedy landlords will even tell you if you refuse to pay that they will increase the rent of the house or you pay 50% or 60% of agent and agreement and have your yearly rent increased throughout your stay as a tenant. May God help the common man, its not easy this days |

Only a slowpoke will believe this, how many lagosians can the government even boasted they have sincerely and unpartially provided their own accommodations to? You want want to control rents on houses individuals built with their own hard earned monies What a big joke |
Jokerman(m): 11:53pm On May 14 |
It can work. Someone collecting 70K salary want to be paying 50 or 60k per month?? Let this government do reasonable thing now |

Spursy:Exponentially missed . If you want daily rental, good but tenants should be removed in a day too. Also, incremental rent changes be made weekly. No notices. Such a bunch of helpless lawmakers think they can get the masses to a foolish government. |

iwaeda:Abi oo and Apapa, Ikoyi and VI. Even the yearly rentals do not apply in those areas. |

Myrepublic: It will also be an opportunity to sue wicked landlords |
