Is ASUU running Universities?

I wasn't talking about running the universities but how they can make use of the vast land wasting, they can pool up their research grant for agriculture purposes

Please do your research well. University of Calabar occupies 17 hectare of land mass in cross river state.

What's the source of your data

Futo is at the back of my villa, drive through futo to other neighbouring villages often, I schooled in Unizik, awka, I doubt if futo is larger in land mass.

With this i doubt other numbers you are presenting
It's very false. There's no way AUN and Redeemers University are larger in size than UNN.

Sadly, we have carried the foolishness of revenue allocation erroneously based on land mass because of political factors to our institutions of higher learning.

Universities, to an extent like a church is not based on buildings or land mass, but on people and professionals operating the system.
So, you have Universities with one building and hundreds of off site campuses, and now we even have virtual Universities without physical buildings and certainly no land mass, yes, no measurable land mass.
Nigeria is apparently a country where irrelevant things are positioned to carry more weight than substantial issues.
It's like judging the best student of the year by say how well they dress, not on GPA, not on attendance, and not even on research efforts.
Who did this to Nigeria

It's an IQ problem.

Since Secondary school days I've been hearing this rubbish land mass bragging and hype, yet none of them fit enter better rankings for Africa, talk more global. They can't even catch headlines for anything catchy and innovative without international funding or .

itting students in millions to generate funds from then and expulsion next. Rinse and repeat.

A department will have 1500 students and 1300 will be on F and they'll be proud to post results and blame EVERYTHING on students being unserious when even the lecture environment and methods of learning are all crude and archaic.

The least is Agric Empire and yet they can't do that. Na to dey wait for funds from here and there naim dem sabi. Smh

Driving through Futo from the main gate at Obinze axis to the exit gate leading to ihiagwa will take you less than 12mins
From Unizik main gate on onitsha enugu express to exit gate leading to ifite will take you more time not minding diverting to senate building and school hostel

Check it bro

I drove through Unizik from the back gate to the front gate in less than 5 mins. Unizik no reach Futo anywhere in of land mass bro.

After the academic buildings, you'll drive through thick bushes inside Futo to Ihiagwa axis.

A sane society would convert those lands to agriculture to produce more food in the country

Because all the other land has finished? There is no problem with using the land for agriculture if it is aligned with the appropriate department, and used for research and development. Otherwise, farming for the sake of it is not the business of universities.

Funaab is 40000 hectares

Make your findings right.
29 villages were exited to create land for the school.
Even if it was 1,000,000 hectares, did the school labour to get it or it was gifted them by govt? How many of the world's top 1000 universities have such a landmass? They dont but are productive. Here we celebrate inherited input and never output.

UNILORIN, my alma mater.
The land mass is huge.
I have walked from the school park to the gate several times, it's not a small journey.

Also, I have walked from the main campus to the mini campus via the link road, a much longer journey. The land is wide and massive, I explored with my foot then. Also, the fulanis settlement are nice people

Which research grant? Obtained from where? Research grants are for specific purposes not for spending on land cultivation. Even TETFUND that was awarding 1.7m to 5m is on the verge of being shelved by govt. Research isnt even scaledfor commercial purposes anyway. What you can say is let universities pivot into agribusiness as a source of IGR.

is like you just quote without understanding simple question ? Do you think Dan fodio is a small university by land mass ?

The School should come before FUTO.
It has about 4,400 hectares of land mass.

Former UNiagric Markurdi is not here? Wow, meaning there are school bigger than that? Hmmm

These universities just occupy vast hectares of land with numerous underutilized or empty buildings, yet they remain far behind in research and innovation. In contrast, the University of Manchester—whose main campus can be walked around in under an hour—is among the top universities in the world, known for cutting-edge research and global impact."

Unilorin is bigger in land mass than Seychelles and mauritius put together

I maybe wrong.
Metrofox(m): 9:04pm On May 11
Land mass doesn't convert to quality education, turn those spaces into farmlands , better institutions abroad are right in the middle of the cities sharing buildings with banks and others

Research said 10,000 hectares. By the way, "hectares" is not the same thing as "acres".

I don't believe this report, where is UNN? How on earth would FUTO be in the list and UNN is missing? If I have not been to any other Universities in the list, at least I can speak on FUTO and UNN; I schooled in both. FUTO is not up to 1/3 of UNN, Nsukka by land mass.

How do you measure landmass? Research states that UNN's landmass is just around 1000+ hectares.

That is a lot of landmass when we are actually talking about landmass, but it is unlike all those other universities that actually swallowed cities.

Only drone shots can make you understand the reality of the landmass of these universities in question.

Drbarmes(m): 6:38am On May 12
ABU Zaria is the largest university in sub Saharan Africa. This is a common knowledge
