My friend told me that he attended a workshop back then and one of the things that was thought was using chicken poo which was named "black gold" to make fish feed.

I want to know, has anyone here successfully used such, I am just curious to know if such thing works or is there anyone here who provides such training.

Before the advent of all these chemicals feeds, fish in lakes eat poo and they grew and multiplied. I personally would prefer to eat fish that are reared on organic feed than all these chemicals that are used to pump up fish that's everywhere.

We were taught it can be used… but it has limitations cause too much of it will pollute the water.

Fly lay eggs in chicken shit. Egg turns to maggots.

Chickens and fish love maggots.

It works perfectly well. I know of a company in Ibadan that use chicken poo to produce fish feed.
They also help build fish pond.

Cassava peals, grinded maize husk, dried water hyacinth, BSF, etc are some of the things now being added to fish feed formulation to reduce Cost.

What they meant is to collect the chicken poo and allow maggots full it, then sieve out the poo and feed your fish the maggots which is a raw source of good protein and healthy oils.

Hope you understand now, don't feed your fish chicken poo.

What do fishes in the wild feed on?

I think the secret is the maggots found in chicken droppings.



To make it less disgusting it's better to keep the droppings for somedays to produce maggots then separate them instead of putting everything in the pond.

A fish pond in my area actually did this. The poultry was directly on top of the fish pond, and the waste was being fed to the fish.
The business crumbled after the first harvest; maybe it was due to inexperience.

I know one of building your poultry on top your pond so the dropping gets to the fish directly.
The downside is what if it becomes too much ?
