TONYE001: Yes because you suggested that blood transfussion would save one from a cancer that has already spread. I'm even more amazed because you sound like a medical practitioner yet, you were silent on how unsafe blood screening and banking is especially in a lawless place with poor inftrastructure like Nigeria where in some cases over 70% of the cells in a pint of blood are dead or compromised due poor handling. Have'nt you seen patients who received timely blood transfussion and still ed? |

The life of the child is more important than the parents religious sentiments.

Blood is greater than the life in that religious community of Jehovah's Witnesses. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Their own Bible states.... For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I myself have given it on the altar. The blood was given on the altar to redeem sinful humans from the wages of sin - death and therefore save their lives. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Blood don't save lives rather it is greater than life in that community ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

There are modern medical practices that do not use blood transfusion as treatment. That should have been used instead of compelling the parents to do what they chose not to do. Blood transfusion on its own has its dangers

Ucheamani: I suggested, how? How exactly? And, by the way, in a thousand and one cases (the case I quoted inclusive), receiving blood transfusion when advised would buy a patient more time...whether metastatic cancer or not. In our system, even though it's true that things are not optimal, in standard hospitals, blood transfusion is actually very, very safe. And, no, 70% of the cells are not dead or compromised as long as the procedure and handling of blood follow standardized protocols (which is what happens even in Nigeria). Don't try to force a narrative that's distant from my initial post, please. This is exactly what you are attempting to do, and it's not a honest way to hold a conversation. Thanks. 2 Likes |

MaxInDHouse:Please below; Genesis 9:2-4 [2]And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered. [3]Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things. [4]But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat. HOW DOES THIS RELATE TO BLOOD TRANSFUSION?? Did you really understand what this verse means or meant to say?? I understood in this, that God has given man dominion over all moving things shall be meat plus the herbs except for human beings!!!! |

correctguy101: Organ transplant like kidney was banned to until they changed it. The litigation will be too much to lift blood ban. They can only say we told our it is a conscience matter but we know when caught in blood transfusion you are automatically seen as disfellowhipped or disassociated paapaa. |

Why take the little girl to hospital in the first place, they should have remained at home and do what the religion permits.Confused and brainwashed set of people.

FireUpNow: I'm so sorry about your loss. I'm in no way discarding the weight of the trauma you and your friend's family must have gone through. Please, accept my condolences. But in truth, losing patients to blood transfusion is not a daily/common event. Just the same way not every patient that takes a particular medication dies....a few, however, may come down with severe complications or lose their lives if they have an unusual, severe drug reaction like Steven Johnson Syndrome or Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN) seen in the use of some medications. I advise that should you be found in a situation to consent to the use of blood or blood products for yourself or anyone, try and follow the counsel of your doctor. You and your doctor may explore available alternatives, but know that in the face of an emergency, there may not be enough time for such an exploration. 1 Like |

achorladey:What do you expect from people wey dey follow man-made doctrine? Was with a Medical Doctor friend in his clinic way back , soon after our Service year when without waiting for the protocols, a young couple alongside some relatives, rushed in this cute little baby girl who was running a high fever and looking so pale and breathing so weakly. There was panic and tension. The mother was crying. A quick examination done, my Doctor friend told them the baby needs a blood transmission for starters. To my greatest shock, the crying mother screamed...'Noooooo! We are Witnesses, it's against our religion '! Boy!! She held my guy and asked him to seek alternative way to save her baby. My friend had to refer them to a bigger hospital but tell you what! Before they left the clinic, the baby demised! That was 22 years ago! She would have been a beautiful grown up woman by now. Very sad situation when people put their wrong beliefs before life. 2 Likes |

MaxInDHouse: Did god say you should abstain from Blood transfusion? The abstain from blood means do not eat blood or eat an animal that is not slaughtered. Cannibalism involves eating human beings which is a sin. But you can accept organ transplant which is not a sin. If you can accept organ transplant then what is the difference with blood transfusion? 1 Like |

Ucheamani: You are ignorant! Blood transfusion has saved millions of lives from untimely death. Even your anitbiotics or malaria drugs have side effects and you are pre-warned. So cos of the possible side effects of anti-biotic you'll assume it is unsafe to take them? Make it make sense! |
