A former member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Micah Yohanna Jiba, has ignited a firestorm of controversy by demanding the reversal of the proposed occupant of the FCT slot, Mr. Solomon Adodo, in the North Central Development Commission.

Hon. Jiba's demand is driven by the fact that Mr. Adodo is not an indigene of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) but rather a native of Benue State.

Hon. Jiba alleged that the FCT has been deliberately marginalized in the nomination process. He pointed to the recent approval of the North Central Development Commission , where not a single indigene of the FCT was nominated. Meanwhile, other states in the North Central zone received multiple nominations, while the FCT was glaringly excluded.

This, he believes, is a blatant case of marginalization and exclusion.

Hon. Jiba emphasized that the FCT deserves representation by one of its own, citing the principle of federal character and inclusion.

He noted that the FCT is an integral part of the North Central zone and does not have anywhere else to go, making it essential that their interests are represented. He urged the authorities to consider the demand and ensure that the FCT is represented by one of its own.

The former lawmaker cited a previous instance where a nomination was reversed after agitation, hoping for a similar resolution in this matter.

According to Hon. Jiba, the authorities should prioritize the interests of the FCT and consider the demand.

Hon. Jiba's demand is in line with Mr. President's renewed hope agenda, which aims to carry everyone along, irrespective of their geopolitical zone.

The nomination of Mr. Adodo, he believes, goes against the spirit of inclusivity and federal character. He urged the authorities to prioritize the interests of the FCT and ensure that the territory is represented by one of its own.

The nomination of Mr. Adodo has significant implications for the representation of the FCT. If the nomination is not reversed, it could set a precedent for future nominations, further marginalizing the FCT.

Hon. Jiba's demand is a call to action for the authorities to prioritize the interests of the FCT.

The controversy surrounding the FCT slot nomination highlights the need for fairness and equity in representation.

Hon. Jiba's demand for a reversal of the nomination is a call to action for the authorities to prioritize the interests of the FCT and ensure that the territory is represented by one of its own.

“The outcome of this matter will have significant implications for the representation of the FCT and the principle of federal character”
he added.

The six local government should be allocated to the 6 geo political zone. No body ought to claim indigeneship in fact cause we are all indigenous as it is our capital.

FCT is one place that it's indigenes are extremely lazy and unreal.

How can you have top representatives for FCT as non-indigenes. There's never a time that an indigene is appointed as a minister for its state.... No its senatorial and house of representatives at the federal level. Except this Adodo.

They focus more on their Area council elections and in most cases the Gbagis of Nasarawa and the surroundings usually claim these positions.

They're the most cheated....

Abuja wasn't a no man's land. Where will you put the indigenous people of the FCT who have their chiefs in all the Area Councils?

I think the FCT should have been excluded from the NCDC to begin with. In fact they should be removed. They already enjoy a special status as the FCT.

that is why it's not a state...many of the communities there were relocated in the 70s ,80s and 90s.
The idea is to have a FCT with no indigene like Lagos that was FCT and has indigenes.

Only some are resettled not all.
It is not all Abuja land that was totally claimed by the government. All those highbrow areas has original occupant, I agree with you on that, those ones had been resettled some in nasarawa state while some in kogi state then some in Niger state.
But the interior are still being occupied by the original owners. Those are the people talking here. They've truly being marginalized. They reserve the right like any other Nigerians to have a say in the management of their land

I can bet you he is not Igbo because Igbos have been one tribe that has ed the indigenous people to get their rights in FCT, has any Igbo man become FCT Minister since its creation, the closest is Wike who politically denies his Igboness but has been the best in of providing infrastructure for indigenous communities outside the main City centre of Abuja

How can you claim that people relocated there in the 70s to 90s. Have tou forgotten that FCT was created from states? Cutting some villages and local government areas to form FCT? The people from those villages were not displaced properly.

Am not claiming...am stating the facts...you didn't read my sentence well..I said indigenous communities in present day FCT werw relocated from their ancestral homes to other neighboring states to avoid Lagos situation whereby the indigens of Lagos had issues with FG over land and several other things when Lagos was FCT.
I hope you understand now .
