Because they know he could be vulnerable to western assassination attempts. Burkina Faso is still very weak militarily, and need assistance to protect that guy, especially when he’s travelling.

Well done, Mr Putin.

Traore is playing with fire.

Trading for Russia.

Putin or any western power are only interested in your country resources.

Once they get what they want they ditch you.

I'm not sure why because Russia wants exactly what the west wants. The difference is that while the latter has been demonized, the former wants the same thing but can only open up after building a solid relationship first. Every leader, expect for those foolish ones in Africa, puts his country first.

You just answered the question yourself with your last sentence...

Traore is one of the few African leaders that puts the interest of his country first.

Both the west and Russia can want the same thing, but it's the process of going about what they want that matters.

Bukinafaso has been cheated by the west, especially by but traore has stood up boldly to try and put an end to that.

It's not a crime for Russia to want resources abound in bukinafaso if they do so respectfully and legitimately.

has treated bukinafaso with utmost disrespect while grabbing her resources almost for free.

Russia is offering a partnership based on mutual respect and understanding.

Russia apart from the direct benefits from mineral resources also has a lot to gain by strategically broadening it's tentacles on reach on Africa and creating and forging new alliances.

Unlike the west that sees bukinafaso as a cow to milk dry without gaining anything in return!

Oga, stop writing an epistle. You don't live in Burkina Faso. Only those who live there can tell you whether he's a good leader or not.

The media can be used to shape people's views about leaders. You just formed your opinion based on what you are fed in the media. I won't write more than this.

Do you even know what an epistle is...? undecided

Lazy Nigerian youth.

How else do you want to form an opinion on global events if not by seiving objectively over what the media puts out?

What are you doing on this thread if you can't form an opinion based on information got from media sources?

The world is now a global village...broaden your mind and horizon.

I mustn't live in bukinafaso, Russia or the US to get information and form an opinion about the things going on in those places!

Nobody can talk freely in Burkina Faso, they are all afraid. Some spoke out and they were sent to the war front.

never stopped looting Africa, but this generation of Africans will put a stop to it. - by Adem Kılıç

Although the French presence in Africa dates back to the late 16th century, the main period of colonial expansion began with the occupation of Algeria in the 19th century.

French North Africa, which formed most of the Maghreb region at the height of French colonial control, and the French invasion of Algeria in 1830 marked the turning point of a colonial period that would last more than a century in North Africa.

established forms of governments to keep these African countries under its direct control, and implemented assimilation policies by dictating its own system.

named the countries it colonized in the West African region as “French West Africa” and those in Central Africa as “French Equatorial Africa”. It carried out great massacres to break the resistance of the peoples here.

In the new order established after the Second World War, had to accept the “formal independence” of its colonies – but upon conditions. All African countries have accepted this condition-based independence, except Guinea.

While was handing over its istrations on paper, it stipulated conditions with its colonization agreements with African countries. imposed the obligation to use the African Franc as the neo-colonial currency, and moreover, it made the new “independent” countries pay for the infrastructures built by during the colonial period.

14 African countries, which are former French colonies, continued to pay the “colonial tax” to since their so-called independence.

By establishing the “Commonwealth of French-Speaking Countries”, prevented its former colonies from breaking their ties with Paris.

In 1994, a similar process took place in Rwanda and French military units directly ed the conflict. provided weapons and military training to the local genociders and had a direct impact on the deaths of nearly 1 million people.

The number of those massacred in Tunisia, Senegal, Niger, Mauritania, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Guinea and Benin is still unknown.

The official language of 27 of 54 countries in Africa is French and nearly 100 million people speak this language.

Exactly. The guy hasn't really made the country better than he met it but they are calling him an African hero. Ditching the west is not tantamount to development but that's our definition of it.

Then u dont know Russia.

There is no natural resources that u have in Africa that isn't found in Russia.

They have everything and that is why Europe finds it difficult to exploit them.

Russia is looking for alliance and not ur natural resources and if they succeed,Europe and America would cease to dominate the world.
They have have China, they have Iran,Brazil,North Korea,Hungary,Armenia,Belarus and they are trying to expand it further.

What did francophone west Africa gain from other than exploitation of their resources? They were made to pay colonial tax to while same took control of their natural resources. always installed puppets presidents who always serve the interests of over that of their own country.

Russia had the resources to enslave Africans, they never did. They had the resources to invade and colonise African countries, exploit our natural resources they never did. I would rather we align with them than these demonic western Europeans who never mean well for us. And FYI, Putin is NOT a western power.
