In their defense, it's not easy to make adaptations from books. It's impossible to be 100% faithful to the books due to certain constraints.

It's easier to adapt games than books.

I was talking more about the quality of the movie, and at the end of the Godfather there were consequences as his family fragmented and his daughter was killed.

The Last Don is not part of it at all.

I disagree. Imagery is important when it comes to storytelling, but it is not everything. The acting of Marlon Brando and Al Pacino for instance can't be replicated on print. The background soundtrack of the movie and the emotions it triggers when watching it can't be transmitted through a novel.

Perhaps you're right and it's too broad and conclusive a statement but I’m yet to encounter a movie adaptation that captures the depth and richness of a book. I believe many others feel the same.

Books allow readers to delve into the inner recesses and thoughts of a character’s mind for a better understanding and conjures a vivid image to the reader.

Movies on the other hand, rely on visual storytelling such as facial expressions, dialogue, quirks, actions of the characters which can’t fully replicate the immersive, introspective experience a book offers

For me, Books > Movie adaptation.
