The Labour Party has announced the indefinite suspension of six prominent , including Abia State Governor Alex Otti, Senators Darlington Nwokocha and Ireti Kingibe, over alleged anti-party activities.

Others suspended are Victor Afam Ogene, Amobi Ogah, and Seyi Sowumi.

The party’s National Executive Council said the decision followed the recommendations of a five-man Disciplinary Committee set up on May 2, 2025, to probe allegations of anti-party conduct.

In a statement signed by the National Secretary, Umar Farouk Ibrahim, on Wednesday, the party said the suspension takes immediate effect and bars the affected from participating in any Labour Party activities.

The Disciplinary Committee has concluded their assignment and has submitted their report to the party leadership. The National Executive of the party met today May 7th, 2025 and after exhaustive deliberation in line with powers donated to it by the Party Constitution has ratified the recommendation as submitted by the Disciplinary Committee.

“Consequent upon that, the following of the party have been suspended from the party and all its activities, indefinitely and with immediate effect. 1. Dr. Alex Otti; 2. Senator Ireti Kingibe; 3. Senator Darlington Nwokocha; 4. Hon. Victor Afam Ogene; 5. Hon. Amobi Ogah; 6. Hon. Seyi Sowunmi.”

The party also addressed the omission of Nenadi Usman from the suspension list, stating that she is not a ed member of the Labour Party, but a er of its 2023 presidential candidate.

“We are aware that she is a member of the Obidient group that worked and is still working for the party’s 2023 presidential candidate. We will therefore not honour her with any sanction being not a member of the party,” the statement added.

It also accused Usman of lacking the moral authority to comment on corruption, citing her alleged plea bargain with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and purported asset forfeitures.

“She should also tell Nigerians how she acquired her radio station in Kaduna, all her properties all over Nigeria and abroad, her companies in Cameroon, including her plantations. Nenadi Usman lacks the moral capacity to commence any probe or even talk about corruption,” the statement added.

Reaffirming its stance on political alliances, the Labour Party said it would not any coalition or merger ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Labour Party intends to prosecute the 2027 general election as stand alone party and no further discussion will be entertained on this matter,” the statement concluded.

Awada kerikeri grin Labour Party and Mr. Ideafu no dey ever add; na so so subtract grin

While the ruling party is busy swallowing and governors of the main opposition party, this one with a single state governor is suspending the said governor. If this Obi can't manage this small, tiny party, every reasonable fellow knows he is ill-equipped to manage the affairs of this country.

Forget all the rubbish twitter ranting and ramblings, Obi is presently worse off than he was in 2023. He grew weaker politically.

Kenneth Okonkwo left him, called him a weak leader while exiting the door. Months after, Obi continues to prove him right. Oseloka Obaze, his key ally, left him last week. Abure left his side after ing him against Lamidi Apapa. He lost lawmakers to the APC, recently to the PDP in Enugu state.

I'm sure he will lose Otti very soon to the APC. Ireti Kingibe too will leave to either APC or PDP - this one is certain; Obidients hate and insult her every chance they get and she is fighting in the FCT for survival against Wicked Wike.

Peter Obi is a joke, I swear. This is the person some native people say will lead the coalition. Lmaoo. cheesy

1. What will Obi bring to the coalition table? Aisha Yesufu? Abi Serah? grin Abi Morris? Abi na egbon Dele Farotimi? Abi na the corpse of Pa Adebanjo? cheesy Boya na Nnamdi Kanu wink
2. He's stingy and can't spend like Atiku to run the coalition
3. LP have no respect for him, he has no control of the party both at the state and federal level, he's irrelevant in Anambra politics, how will he command the respect of the coalition ?

Lmaoooo... Make I dey watch. "They" will soon bombard this thread to accuse the APC and Tilumbu of their misfortunes. grin

See the party that wants to send Tinubu parking, even the kind of sacrifice that Tinubu and Buhari gave to merge together; these LP and PDP are too selfish, they can't make such sacrifice practically, but only using mouth to send Tinubu parking. Now, LP will chase these ones also to APC by giving them reasons to hold on, then come back later to blame Tinubu

Abure camp giving their Ronu hailers something to cheer about.

Is it the National Working Committee of a party that announces the suspension of a member or the ward executives?

They are here engaging in a jamboree to entertain their fellow never-do-wells.

Why don't you suspend Peter Obi too. These people are just fools. You suspend the only governor in the party. Even PDP couldn't get liver to suspend Wike with his level of anti party activities which is glaring to even the blind. These labour party are not serious at all. Well, Suspension doesn't mean anything cos Igbo land which is the base labour party can never vote Tinubu. They should share the money being given to them. It doesn't change anything

Say JAGABAN. The god of Politics and strategy

I don't think a politician who cannot stand opposition and instead upstands opposition is a strategist. There was a strong sentiment in Lagos when PDP had a chance to win the governorship in 2003 under Funsho Williams. It does not look good in my eyes, it's better to win fair and square like a brave man instead of being afraid of a level playing field like a coward, don't you think?

Bring it on, I am Inter, you are Barca, bring your A game and I will beat you, nothing concern me with your players fighting. I want you to bring 22 Yamal and I'll beat you fair and square instead of giving money to Barca player to cause problems, bribing staff to poison Barca players before the game or making sure your kits are torn. Canada's women team was sanctioned by FIFA because they took drones to spy at other teams. Canada said it was strategy, FIFA said it was unethical. Canada was fined and lost 6 points for not playing fair and square.
