Six of the House of Representatives from Delta State and their two counterparts from Enugu have announced their defection from their former parties to new political platforms.

While the six from Delta state announced their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress, the two from Enugu state swapped the Labour Party for the PDP.

The letters of defection from the were read on the floor of the House at the resumption of plenary on Tuesday.

The defecting from Delta were led by the Leader of the Southern regional caucus of the three House and the longest-serving member, Nicholas Mutu (Bomadi), who has been in the House on the platform of the PDP since 1999.

Other defecting include Nnamdi Ezechi (Ndokwa/Nkwuani), Jonathan Okodiko (Isoko), Thomas Eriyetomi (Warri), Julius Pondi (Burutu), and Victor Nwokolo (Ika North and South).

Those who left LP are Mark Obetta (Nsukka/Igboeze South of Enugu state and Dennis Agbo (Igbo Eze North/Udenu).

The defectors anchored their reasons for seeking fresh political platforms on the crises rocking their former parties across all levels.

Recall that the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, and the former Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, left the Peoples Democratic Party two weeks ago to the All Progressives Congress.

With what I'm seeing so far, I don't think Peter Obi will run in 2027.

If we have a Free & Fair Credible elections, where the votes of Nigerians count, all these defections will be of little or no effect in outcome of elections.

Shouldn't there be a law that prohibits this behaviour among politicians? Changing your name after you have become someone?

Those perceived to be obidients are not obidients. They are opportunists.
That's if you understand Nigeria politics.

El Rufai should have been more patient, we endured more under Buhari, which is the main architect of today's issues.

Responding to one's emotions most times is dangerous.

Experts are saying things are going on well in Nigeria.

There's nothing to study about, he's just a man who believes he can buy even your father and mother against you, it's as simple as that.

It is so sad and disheartening. How can one stand in. The sun to vote for a political party, not knowing that the representative is a charmeleon, who will later decamp to another party that he was secretly representing. I still wonder why this irresponsible behavior has not been taken up and dealt with finally by the courts to put an end to it.

The crooked representatives will never address it in the constitution.

How can we not have voter apathy when elections come. In Rivers state for example, it is clear that the of the state house of assembly will all decamp some time next year to APC.

Deceive urself. If people can eat 3 square meals a day at ease, go to bed without fear of herdsmen attack, increase purchasing power of the common man on the streets and tuition fees reduce to accommodate easy access to education at all levels, yes! I will agree with u 💯 but without these above mentioned, my brother u're in dream land.

Besides, this defection is also a direction to teach northerners some lessons that people of the South are no longer their puppets to use for hijacking power to themselves.

The north will vote emass for their Northern candidate but their votes wouldn't take them to aso rock just like in the days of Buhari of 2003, 2007, 2011 until he agreed to a merger in 2013 which election he later won in 2015 as against incumbent Jonathan.

The entire South vote is a block vote while North becomes the battle ground.

We are now wiser in the south as against what use to be the norms
