Is The Bible Still Accurate? Let’s Be Honest With Ourselves (219 Views)

Someone made a tweet and few comments caught my eye like the one below You acknowledge there is a God given talent, yet you question the accuracy of writings inspired by God.Then I started wondering why we are so fixed on things we know nothing about, things we claim we do by faith alone and then still defend it like it's fact which brings me to the topic below. Is the Bible Still Accurate? Let’s Be Honest With Ourselves I know this may ruffle a few feathers, but it’s a genuine question worth thinking about: Can we really say the Bible is 100% accurate today, just as it was originally inspired thats if it was inspired by God at all? Let’s be real. This book has ed through hundreds, even thousands of years, translated from Hebrew to Greek, to Latin, and now into over 3,000 versions in English and other languages. We all know how hard it is to translate pidgin to English without losing meaning. now imagine translating deep spiritual texts across centuries, cultures, and empires. You think nothing got lost or twisted? Add to that the fact that the Bible was edited, compiled, and arranged by councils who were people like you and me with their own biases, interests, and even political motives. Some books were removed. Some were merged. Others were emphasized to suit a narrative. Na human beings dey do all these things o, not angels. Even if the original writers were inspired by God, the many hands that handled the scriptures after them were not necessarily “spiritual” people. So why do we act like every single word we read today is exactly how God intended it? This isn’t about disrespecting anyone’s faith. If the Bible helps you live better, love people, and grow spiritually, that’s beautiful. But let’s not pretend it came down straight from heaven, leather-bound and error-free. Sometimes, questioning is not rebellion it’s wisdom. Faith doesn’t mean we shouldn’t think. God no go vex if you use the brain wey e give you. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Accurate in what sense? ![]() |

MaxIntheHouse2:By “accurate,” I meant: Is this still what the original writer meant? Are we sure the message hasn’t been watered down, misinterpreted, or manipulated? Are we reading what God intended when he inspired the writings or what generations of human hands and councjls have shaped it into? 2 Likes |

emmy512: Hmmmmmmm this is a wise question. So to get the answer you and i need to go back to what the Author (God) said about the book. The Author promised that in the last days which is our time (you can ask for proof to be sure that we are truly living in the last days) people from different geographical locations on this planet will start paying attention to His book {Isaiah 2:2; Micah 4:1} and they will study it with all seriousness so as to make it their constitution as a global group {Isaiah 2:3; Micah 4:2} and the result will be that this global group will successfully achieve something strange! |
MaxIntheHouse2(m): 10:01am On May 04 |
What will they achieve? The Author said they will use what is found written in His book to teach themselves and thereafter divert their resources into production of food and information materials, stop producing, buying, selling and using of weapons, and vow never to raise weapons against their fellowman again! Isaiah 2:4; Micah 4:3 Do you think the group that gathered people throughout the world to achieve this goal have the accurate information as inspired by the Author? 2 Likes |

MaxIntheHouse2:This idea of God being the Author of the Bible book is something I find hard to wrap my head around. He inspired the writings of different prophets, apostles etc but the Bible as we know today which is a compilation and translation of different writings that were "inspired by God" how can we be sure everything that was compiled was actually those inspired by God and not a mix of those by men and God to suit some agendas. I appreciate the reference to Isaiah and Micah as i had to check it out being my first tkme of reading that part as an adult. But here's where I have another question. If this prophecy points to a specific group today, then which group is it? Because the world right now is still full of war, greed, corruption, and divisions even among people who claim to follow the Bible. Christians disagree on core doctrines, use different Bibles, and even fight each other politically and culturally. Also, saying that people will "use the Bible as their constitution" still doesn't prove the version of the Bible they are using is perfectly accurate because to me the fact that something is being fulfilled doesn’t mean the transmission process in our case now translation, interpretation, editing hasn’t introduced errors along the way. 2 Likes 1 Share |

also, a prophecy being fulfilled might show the Bible has value and insight but itt doesn’t cancel the fact that it’s been filtered through centuries of human influence. That’s the balance I think we should be honest about because based on the arguments I read on that twitter comments I had to ask myself if these people really belive what they're saying because they know or they were taught to not question their faith or Bible

When you say "still accurate" it means it was accurate before. And if it was accurate before then therefore it can be accurate now and be accurate tomorrow |

emmy512: Another thought provoking question! Regarding this group please read what a prophet said in the Bible: “You are the light of the world. A city cannot be hid when located on a mountain. People light a lamp and set it, not under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it shines on all those in the house. Likewise, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your fine works and give glory to your Father who is in the heavens" Matthew 5:14-16 "By their fruits you will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? Likewise, every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit. A good tree cannot bear worthless fruit, nor can a rotten tree produce fine fruit." Matthew 7:16-18 Now read what Nairalanders like you have observed: APOPTOSIS: Deway52: Love800: |

emmy512: Is it the bible that was filtered or the statements which people said and pointed to the bible claiming the bible said it? |

emmy512: If it has been tempered with them it can never ever meet up with the purpose for which the Author inspired it! ![]() |

MaxIntheHouse2: Here you are talking about one the biggest perverters of the bible who teach Lies. And the world does see your fruits. But of course Liars will find Liars attractive |

Dtruthspeaker: “These things I command you, that you love one another. If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you. Keep in mind the word I said to you: A slave is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have observed my word, they will also observe yours. But they will do all these things against you on of my name, because they do not know the One who sent me." John 15:17-21 Can you mention the name of your own church and compare with this global group? 1 Like 1 Share |

MaxIntheHouse2: If you truly loved your neighbour, you won't be inviting him to your evil cult |
MaxIntheHouse2(m): 10:54am On May 04 |
@ emmy512 Note that the guy claims to be a Christian but he can never ever point to his church rather all he will keep doing is argue pointlessly. Well the truth is only one group got the message and applying it correctly while the rest are from the enemy of the Author so instead of humbly itting that they don't know how to apply what is found written in the book they will try to say evil things about Jesus' disciples! Matthew 5:11-12 ![]() |

MaxIntheHouse2: Which church did Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Job, Cornelius, Paul etc go to? |
MaxIntheHouse2(m): 10:59am On May 04 |
Dtruthspeaker:Jesus said: "I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, you also love one another. By this all will know that you are my disciples—if you have love among yourselves.” John 13:34-35 This New Commandment isn't about neighbours but fellow believers so it's this love that makes outsiders call Jesus' group a cult: “A student is not above his teacher, nor a slave above his master. It is enough for the student to become as his teacher, and the slave as his master. If people have called the master of the house Be·elʹze·bub, how much more those of his household?" Matthew 10:24-25 Jesus foretold that you people will call his real disciples a cult due to the love that binds them together globally! ![]() |

MaxIntheHouse2: See, you do not read the Bible else you would have seen that since Abraham, Isaac and Jacob up through Paul and Timothy God had indeed established His Church |

@ emmy512 Thanks for the thought provoking question i hope you're satisfied with the answer you got. Please Jehovah's Witnesses in your neighbourhood for further details on how to be sure of the accuracy of the Bible. |

I think the inaccuracies of the Bible has been proven to be true many times here. The fact that we don't know if Judas bought the land he died in or of it was bought by the chief priests according to Matthew and Luke in Acts is key! |
Dtruthspeaker: 5:41pm On May 04 |
Antichristian2: All explained by the fact that people only see in one dimensions and they give reports from the angle exactly as we see when people are even reporting a simple fight. We all see people giving different reports and different angles of the same topic. |
Antichristian2: 7:26am On May 05 |
Dtruthspeaker: But one of the authors lied in this case! Both Judas and the chief priests can't buy the land together! Judas threw the money on the floor. Can you explain how it truly happened with your own reconciliation? |
