Trump Cuts Funding For National Public Radio, Broadcasting Service, Labels Them “Enemy Of The People”

United States President Donald Trump has ordered a cut in funding for National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), after earlier labelling them “the enemy of the people.”

The decision was announced through an executive order he signed, according to AP News.

NPR and PBS are only partly funded by U.S. taxpayers and rely more on private donations.

Trump had previously described most mainstream media houses as “enemy of the people.”

Although his fondness for broadcaster Fox News is not hidden, Trump has also appointed some of the station's hosts to positions in his istration.

"National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) receive taxpayer funds through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (B),” Trump said in his executive order.

“I therefore instruct the B Board of Directors and all executive departments and agencies to cease Federal funding for NPR and PBS.”

He accused both organisations of being unfair. “Neither entity presents a fair, accurate, or unbiased portrayal of current events to taxpaying citizens," he noted.

Earlier, the B budget had already been approved by Congress through 2027, which raises questions about the scope of Trump’s order.

More than 40 million Americans listen to NPR public radio each week, and 36 million watch a local television station from the PBS network each month, according to their estimates.

NPR director Katherine Maher estimated in March that the radio station would receive about $120 million from the B in 2025, “less than five percent of its budget.”

Media rights group RSF warned Friday about “an alarming deterioration in press freedom” in the United States under Trump and “unprecedented” difficulties for independent journalists around the world.

Reacting, the Public Broadcasting Service in a statement condemned the US President’s move.

"There’s nothing more American than PBS, and our work is only possible because of the bipartisan we have always received from Congress,” the organisation said.

“This public-private partnership allows us to help prepare millions of children for success in school and in life and also s enriching and inspiring programs of the highest quality.”

A.F. Branco Cartoon – President Trump signs executive order ending taxpayer money to left-wing biased NPR and PBS. Why should we pay for media that is, for the most part, fake news, with a 90% plus negative reporting on conservatives and President Trump?

BREAKING: President Trump Signs “Ending Taxpayer Subsidization of Biased Media” Executive Order to Defund NPR and PBS
By Jordan Conradson – The Gateway Pundit – May 1, 2025

In a stunning new development, President Trump has signed a sweeping executive order defunding National Public Radio (NPR) and Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), the Democrats’ taxpayer-funded leftist propaganda machines.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, the president previously called on Congress to defund the absurdly dishonest "news" organizations following a House Oversight DOGE subcommittee hearing, which exposed the stations’ already well-known bias and radical content. This includes documentaries about transvestites and transitioning, a documentary about “Racist Trees,” and so-called educational programming for young children, including toddlers, that featured a cross-dressing freak…
