[i]By Amanabo Ocholi, The Nigeria Police Force has officially reactivated the issuance of Tinted Glass Permits (TGP) nationwide, following a directive by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun. The move aims to provide a clear, secure, and transparent process for the regularisation of factory-fitted tinted windows in vehicles.

The reactivation comes in response to widespread complaints from motorists about harassment by law enforcement agents over the use of tinted windows, despite having factory-fitted glass.

According to a statement issued by Force Public Relations Officer, A Olumuyiwa Adejobi, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the initiative is part of a broader security strategy to distinguish legitimate s—such as persons with medical needs or security personnel—from criminal elements who exploit tinted vehicles.

“Tinted vehicles have often been exploited for criminal purposes, including kidnapping, armed robbery, ‘one-chance’ scams, and other forms of banditry. Their use hampers police visibility and impedes effective law enforcement, thereby contributing to public insecurity,” the police said.

To this end, the newly launched system integrates identity verification through the National Identification Number (NIN) and Tax Identification Number (TIN). The digital process also includes biometric capture and background checks, ensuring that only vetted individuals are issued permits.

The Police noted that the revamped permit system will enhance investigative capacity, improve operational efficiency, and contribute to national security objectives.

Motorists can now access the online platform to apply for and process their Tinted Glass Permits without the need for physical presence at police stations.

Those stupid directives without being ed into law are of no moment. Nobody can be charged to court for an offence not known to law.

The issue with naija is policy summersault. People will suffer to get this permit and also spend good sum in the process, later another IGP will issue statement asking them to return it and the road extortion continues.

Like this now, the permit I did in 2020 by the same NPF is no longer valid

Do NIGERIANS really need Tainted Glasses 🕶️ NO.
And For What? Nothing because those Majority Who Commit Crimes or are ing others to do so, usually disguise with tainted glasses 🤓.
Some are having Fun inside their Cars- is their Problems any way.
Most Criminals,Drug pushers, Kidnappers, Terrorists used many of the Vehicles to do evil but unfortunately,Nigeria Don't even Produced 5% of the Car on the Roads
Who are the so called VIP,that abbet this Rules - Majority of those Politicians -who are making Nigerians to Suffer:
- with No Light 🚨,
-No Good Roads in Town- the Rural Areas Are Worse,
-No Health Care Delivery 🚚 For the Masses,
- No Employment For Our Youths - and the youths now takes to Crimes,
•yet the Police have been dancing up and down- instead of Effecting the Rules On Tinted Glasses because of Compromise!
-If Those Involved Are Commoners - it will be effected within 24- Hours.
Very Shameful Indeed.

This IGP is overworking o, doing sleepless nights on how to be extorting Nigerian motorists the more. The same permits that the court has dismissed and rendered not operative.

Nigeria Police just devising another means of stealing money by force from Nigerians.

We know the country is hard but you guys shouldn't vent your anger on the populace but on the Commander In Chief Of The Armed Forces.....T.Pain....

Can someone please explain how getting the permit will stop crime stated in the quotes??

Won't it rather let those who get it have a free age?

Once those with permit are stopped, they can easily present the permit and the police will let them go regardless of whether they have any contraband with them or are involved in any crime.
