So what is jamb saying that is different from what his excellency Mr. Peter Obi has said, if clearance was to begin by 6:30am, will the students do the clearance at home or in the exam centres, this people are so daft, defending their mental and intellectual ineptitude, incompetence ,and arrant stupidity all the time.... Rubbish and nanzenze.

So, this is all your problem in this state called Nigeria?

Go rest abeg, you have no problem in life

Some people just want to be recognised for irrelevant reason

It is only when you vet their exam papers and find such an error that you can come up here to blast

Go advise your president on how to solve hunger and insecurity challenges.

If you like, stay here challenging my own grammar

Even if they are to leave home by 5am, our problem is that the FG keeps failing us in of security

Who wants to survive in Nigeria must be determined to face ugly processes

Time and strength will fail me to narrate my ordeals in taking various exams in this country

Let JAMB have rest while Kenshaw and HE, PO also have their rest, pls

JAMB is correct.

With all due respect, there was a grammatical error, though I won't dwell on it cos our problems in Nigeria now is more than distraction. Check below: the first sentence ended with a fullstop.
The second sentence carries plural subject

'I must assert that our examination is scheduled to commence at 8:00am, not 6:00 am. While verification and other clearance processes begins at 6:30am'
biggie73(m): 1:28pm On Apr 29
With this error, I submit JAMB should be eliminated for being a governmental scamm.
ttalks(m): 1:31pm On Apr 29
There is also the issue of the JAMB examination and the so called processes being in the past. So why was the JAMB rep saying "I must assert that our examination is scheduled to commence at 8:00am, not 6:00 am. While verification and other clearance processes begins at 6:30am , it is imperative that candidates are afforded adequate time to settle in before the exam begins." ?
Emphasis on the words in bold.
Shouldn't they have been was, began, was, were, and began respectively?

I saw Kate's interview with Bae or what's his name. The way she taught him his job on the show was wonderful. Pronunciation, diction and composure, I was happy to see that. Standards have dropped.

Young people may see it as cruise but if the foundation is weak, your building will still collapse.

grin grin this was sooo hilarious! .... would more expect this in a movie than real life. She tried ..but the host be robot. Like her...I was waiting for the pause during the introduction to finish not knowing he was waiting for her to respond. She finished him!

@ topic ...she is absolutely correct. "blah and blah" ...the verb must be plural even each is singular . There is absolutely no excuse for an exam authority.... or any educational agency to be making grammatical errors especially in a press release. This just shows that there are unqualified employees and no checks and balances . Maybe they called the cleaner to post a response?...or maybe if they called the cleaner to post a response there wouldn't have been this error.

JAMB is correct.

Kate Henshaw is Right.

Reason: "Exam" in this contest is a name given to an exercise of test and does not represent any action because the test itself was yet to begin. Therefore, the verb that goes must be singular.

Go and read more about the rules of proximity Concord

JAMB is correct.

Olodo!
"Exam" is not the subject here.
The subject of the sentence is "verification and other clearance processes"; that's a plural subject which must take a plural verb "begin".

Go school, u no go gree!

No. Not correct. Jamb wrote:......... "While verification and other clearance processes" begins. It should be "Begin"

The examination is still ongoing; so , using simple present tense or present continuous tense is in order.

So you assume now that Kate is right. It's 'begins' and that's it. She is absolutely not right, and trying hard to be smart with her choice of words to correct that phrase is ridiculous. She is taking substance from such a vital topic by throwing unnecessary jab.
Unnecessary jab?but Reno omonkey did same thing and you never call him out
