Jonathan was a former president, he will carry a strong sense of nostalgia for the good old days, which is what got Buhari elected.

Jonathan's only problem was Boko Haram, aside from that, he was fairly chill he even congratulated Buhari and accepted his defeat something a whole USA president couldnt do.

You also have to consider how PDP like Atiku worked against him, now Atiku is tasting his own medicine.
