Thewrath: Thewrath:Lemme give you some education for what your fortitude lack. Do you expect them to write JAMB in their room with the level of corr**tion that's already seen in WAEC? Are you aware you have to travel across the international oceans to write some exams, for instance, USMLE III in the US? Are you aware some universities, like LASU, don't conduct post-UTME, but rely only on JAMB? Are you aware that if you early for JAMB, you absolutely don't need to travel at all? Do you know that because Obi attac*ked JAMB's modus operandi doesn't mean it's faulty— and it might just be another of his usual instances of talking before researching? Do you know you may be suff*erin g from anencephaly, because you seem to be dev*oid of the abil*ity to rea*son like a liv*ing-thing? 3 Likes |

He should keep calling out, and putting mouth in anything and everything...that's the closest he'll ever be to having a say in things that matter in this country.

haybhi1: Brother, JAMB's method is actually wrong, as a matter of fact. I'll respond to your post first before I postulate solutions. 1. Second Paragraph: We don't necessarily need to write the UTME in our rooms, there are better ways of doing this. 2. Third Paragraph: International travels, you say. Good stuff, but those that travel abroad to write these exams are not 15 to 16-year-olds. They don't have to leave their homes at 5am or earlier. They are not prone to kidnappings, ritual killings, keke accidents, crowd-control issues, ritualists, etc. These are the current issues ravaging Nigeria, a typical travel to the USA will not expose one to any of these. 3. Fourth Paragraph: Well, all schools should, as a matter of fact, follow suit. We don't need duplicate exams. If it's UTME, let it be UTME. If it's post-UTME, let it be post-UTME. Most people are struggling to pay for these exams. Why make people pay twice....and still pay hugely for registrations and all? What's the idea for this? Strengthen UTME and discard other exams. Or, discard UTME and strengthen university entrance exams. We Blacks tend to make things hard for ourselves. When it was just UTME, though it was very corrupt, things were easier. You just take the exams, see your results, and pursue your ission. Post-UTME started 2005, and up till date, it has hardly served a good purpose other than a means for university bosses to take bribes and fatten their pockets...or a means for universities to show how deeply tribalism, nepotism, and religion have eaten into us. 4. Fifth Paragraph: early? How many people can afford it? When I first wrote UTME, my parents couldn't pay the money early enough. I had to go to Abia State to take the exam. Currently, the pastor in my local church had to gather teenagers taking the exam and paid for them. If not for this gesture, many may not have written it, or may late. And, everyone cannot early... people will eventually get distant centres. Many people pay for UTME through heavy sweats. 5. Sixth Paragraph: For me, this isn't about PO or about politics. We may blame Tinubu because he's the one in power, but this problem predates his presidency. It's actually an institutional problem troubling us. Most Nigerian institutions lack safe ideas to run their businesses. And, yes, PO is very correct here...and he has been correct about a whole lotta other things. JAMB's reply is just poor. Saying registration starts at 6:30am means the handler did not understand PO's message. The issue isn't whether the exam starts at 6:30am or not, but his problem, and my problem, is making kids leave their homes at odd hours in today's Nigeria where safety is nothing but a mirage! And, registration is considered part of an examination. If it is missed, candidates will not be allowed to take the exam. Possible Solutions * Better management (not necessarily better funding because most likely, JAMB may have inflated their budget, zapped out their share of the planning money (allegedly)....the usual story in our corrupt country). * More centres * Registration should start at most by 8am. To prevent rounding up late into the nights, they should take fewer candidates per day and extend the exam days. * They can improve on their examination conducts such that candidates can write from home. In the Western world, students take exams from home. Their are ICT solutions to prevent misconducts...we are not just thinking. * They can make it possible for candidates to take their exams in their schools. Schools should work out the logistics involved with JAMB. Just like WAEC, nothing stops candidates from writing UTME in their schools. * The Nigerian government and its institutions should show empathy in their conducts. This one cannot be overemphasized. 24 Likes 4 Shares |

YoungBlackRico: Sometimes, all one needs to do is to ask honest questions when confronted with issues. This post shouldn't be made to be about Peter Obi. If the observation were made by another person, would your response have been different? Now, the question is, what do you have to say about school children, some as young as 15 years old, going out at 5:00am or earlier, to meet up a 6:30am registration appointment with JAMB? Does this expose them to any security threat? Consider the times we live in currently. Is the country safe for this kinda thing? Let's just hope nothing bad happens to any of these children. But I know that if this exam were to be conducted in a country with empathetic and sensible leaders, it would have been done differently. 5 Likes |

JAMB, an examination body for literacy defended itself and replied like an illiterate. So verification wey dey start by 6.30am made sense to them abi. Teenagers still need to travel in the dark to unfamiliar territories with insecurity plaguing the country here and there 2 Likes |

haybhi1:That is what I am saying, that all the above sounds Normal to you is even more worrisome that what JAMB is doing!! Is there any such thing as late registration? It only has registration deadline after which you can’t anymore,it shouldn’t be a race! With jamb’ budget,it can afford CBT centers all over the country.. 1 Like |

haybhi1: My dear, I didn't want to respond to you because I found it hard to read your comment but you know what? When was JAMB found? 1978 When were the premier universities found? Were students not going to school before JAMB? Are the number of universities we have today the same we had in 1978? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgvVwoJzbxk Can 4 subjects determine your future or 8 subjects that WAEC gives? Why not let the universities determine their exams for entry into respective courses instead of 4 relevant courses from JAMB to narrow to areas of interest? Also I asked you what was used before 1978. That will show you how old or young you are to understand the system we had before JAMB. You think JAMB is a check to universities? "The West African Examinations Council General Certificate Examination (WAEC GCE) is widely recognized, and many international universities accept it for ission." A lot of people don't know this until they want to travel abroad or the parents are tired of having a child's destiny on hold for 1 year. I will invest more in WAEC and scrap NECO, which is another fraud they invented to lower education quality standards. The only reason JAMB has been here so long since the Federal Military Government set up the establishment for is corruption. The current Registrar has also shown us that the government could have been making more money than the past because he is the first to return money to government. That means the government has been wasting money on budget spendings when the institution could have survived on its own. There is also corruption at the university level, which JAMB tried to solve but is not solving it today. Each year Nigeria doesn't allow its youth to be in schools because of JAMB, they are killing dreams and giving other countries the blessings we could have had. The secondary school system is the one we should make strong because any fraud that es JAMB will be found out in the universities. JAMB doesn't do anything about the education system, it's just another roadblock to progress and a badge of honor to Nigerians who love schadenfreude. 2 Likes |

To be honest, posting children to faraway centres and expecting them to show up as early as 6:30am is very unfair of JAMB. During my time, 10am was the exam time and our centres were not so far away.

In fact that is why we have refused to grant Biaf00 people independence. They insult 1st Class Soludo and praise 3rd Class Obi. Ibos said if we had brought out Osibanjo who is a political lightweight they would have ed him. Same way we too would have ed Soludo if he was the one they brought out instead of the Dundee United. ![]() haybhi1: 2 Likes |
