๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ ๐Ÿ†š ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ฐ Following the attack on tourists in Kashmir, the two neighbors are accusing each other and threatening retaliation. They have suspended two major bilateral treaties.

The prospect of a military confrontation between India and Pakistan, two nuclear-armed countries, can no longer be ruled out.

The two neighbors are escalating sanctions and threats following the terrorist attack on Tuesday, April 22, in Kashmir, against tourists, which killed 25 Indians and one Nepali. The attack was the deadliest against civilians in India since the Mumbai attacks in 2008, which claimed 175 lives.

New Delhi immediately blamed its regional rival for the carnage and decided on a series of retaliations, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, signed in 1960 under the auspices of the World Bank.

It is the first time India, which controls the rivers thanks to Kashmir, has taken such a measure. Islamabad retaliated on April 24, after a security council meeting involving government and the military leadership, whose role is crucial in Pakistan.

In a statement, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who denies any involvement of his country in the Pahalgam attack, warned that "any attempt to stop or divert the flow of water belonging to Pakistan as per the Indus Waters Treaty and the usurpation of the rights of lower riparian will be considered as an Act of War and responded with full force across the complete spectrum of national powder."

Pakistani Punjab, the country's grain basket and cotton producer, is entirely dependent on the Indus and its tributaries.

Take two nuclear-armed rivals. Mix in a history of war and a disputed region that's been the site of a decadeslong rebellion. Now add a deadly militant attack against civilians that risks boiling those tensions over.

That's where things stand between India and Pakistan after an April 22 attack that killed mostly Indian nationals in Jammu and Kashmir sent tensions between the two countries skyrocketing. India has accused Pakistan of ing cross-border terrorism, but the Pakistani government denies it was behind the attack that killed 26 civilians.

New Delhi and Islamabad have since carried out tit-for-tat punishments following the incident, including downgrading diplomatic and trade ties, closing the main border crossing, and revoking visas for each other's nationals.

The Pakistani government later said it would consider it "an act of war" if India followed through on a threat to block the flow of crucial rivers as punishment for the deadly incident.

On April 26, Pakistan called for a "neutral" investigation into the killings, saying it "remains committed to peace" ad that it was willing to cooperate with any probe.

Indian and Pakistani forces on April 25 exchanged gunfire for the second straight day along the Line of Control (LOC) separating the two countries in disputed Kashmir, which is split between them, claimed by both in its entirety, and was at the center of two of the three wars that New Delhi and Islamabad have fought against each other.

With tensions simmering, the episode has governments worried that India and Pakistan are once again on the brink of war.

Pakistanis are low budget, radical troublemakers. The low budget Iran that sees India as their own Israel. India too isnt too okay. They discriminate willingly and so are more than ready for radical islamists.

Without opening the thread, it was Kashmir that came to my mind as the cause

That place has been in tight security for years now, India security abusing power over there

What prompted the attack on the bus? Not justifying but just asking those who are mentioning me

RaySimran:

You're wrong, this recent escalation has nothing to do with Indian border security.

Pakistans backed terrorist invade Kashmir last week killing 29 people.

Already india has revoked the indus Water Treaty it had with Paks in the '60s

Hopefully people can now understand what is/ how self-determination can create an irreparable divide amongst ethnic people.

The ignorance I meet on here that ukraine is Russiaโ€™s brother and Zelensky should suck up to an enemy of his people is beyond ridiculous.

India and Pakistan is a boiling pot that would never erupt because of mutually assured destruction.

This is a war with no winners only losers.

Best case: 10 days of horror before the US, China, and Russia drag them by the throat into a ceasefire.

Worst case: 4โ€“6 weeks of grinding slaughter, ending with mushroom clouds and a continent poisoned for centuries.

No one wins. Only mass graves, shattered economies, and a region that slips backwards a hundred years.

Now compare this to West Africa:
If it was a West African country, they wouldnโ€™t even fight.
No shots fired.
No bombs dropped.
No honor defended.

Instead, they'd dig up some outdated, irrelevant piece of paper โ€” maybe from the ICC, maybe from the ICJ, hell, even a letter signed by a colonial governor in 1902 โ€” and use it as an excuse to surrender their ancestral lands.
All for some pathetic slogan like "African Brotherhood" or "Regional Stability".
They would sell Kashmir for a handshake and call it a diplomatic victory.
They'd then hold a summit, take a photo, and applaud their own betrayal, while foreign companies laugh and loot everything valuable left behind.

West African countries would give everything away out of cowardice, greed, or mindless loyalty to dead treaties.

India is nothing but an arrogant country that thinks so much about itself. I don't understand how an unsympathetic country is ready to go into war to defend people that don't want to be them.

The people of Kashmir have said it many times that they would rather go with Pakistan. India knows this, and that's why they're rejecting the referendum that everybody has called for

Even the United Nations has called for referendum so the people of Kashmir can pick the country they want to .

Kashmir people are Muslims and face discrimination from India, their best option is to Pakistan or get their own independent as a country.

Because India knows that the people of Kashmir will never want to their country, that's why they rejected it.

India will be divided again, it just a matter of time.

It's a war that nobody will win because Pakistan is not a country that you can just walk over. They have strong defense systems that should be respected.

India is clearly trying to shy away from the responsibility of its failure to secure the lives of tourists in a region like Kashmir long known to be troubled which they heavy militarized. If Pakistan was directly involved, I did expect a more sophisticated attack on India's security forces than crude religious terrorist attack like the Pahalgam attack although there is a possibility the weapons used were gotten from Pakistani sources.

this now forgotten Lady?

Theresa May . Former British PM. She said would authorise nuclear strike causing mass loss of life.

Asked in Trident debate if she would approve attack that could kill 100,000 people, PM answers with a decisive โ€˜yesโ€™.

Where is she today.

India and Pakistan are just clowning around. Fooling around. Fools.
