An 80-year-old woman identified as Ayodele Ogundipe has been found dead with her body parts dismembered at her farmland located along the Oja-Odan/Ohunbe road, in Yewa North local government area of Ogun state.

The octogenarian, who had gone to her farm, was reported missing at the Oja Odan Divisional Police on Thursday, after failing to return home.

The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, on Friday, stated that the command was alerted of the incident by her family.

Odutola stressed that a search party comprising of her family and community was organised on Friday, leading to the discovery of her remains, found in a dismembered state.

She revealed that the commissioner of police, Lanre Ogunlowo, had mandated a thorough investigation into the case in an attempt to piece together all of the events leading up to the death, which seemed to be a ritual killing.

She said, “The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has launched covert operations to bring the perpetrators to justice.

“The Commissioner extended his condolences to the bereaved family and assured the public that justice would be pursued diligently.”

Meanwhile, she reiterated the command’s commitment to the protection of lives and properties of residents in the state and extended condolences to the families of the deceased.
