Obi, the Labour Party Presidential Candidate in the 2023 General Election, in a delivered lecture at the Johns Hopkins University stated that Nigeria's Poverty index is today, higher than that of China, Indonesia and Vietnam combined together.

What has kept the country in a messy state is actually the insincerity in us as citizens to make the country move forward. Tribal and religious divides are also part of the factors and not truth. The truth has been said for many years but our insincerity is hindered the truth from working.

What I mean is that what N1500 can buy for you in Nigeria $1 dollar can't do it in the US Europe and in most African countries including Vietnam and Indonesia where just one small bottle water we buy for N200 is sold for N1800.

Or David Cameron, former UK Prime Minister, who called Nigeria “fantastically corrupt”—a statement Buhari himself didn’t dispute? You have Senator Imasuen who was disbarred in New York for professional misconduct and he is currently heading the Ethics committee in Nigerian Senate. What other self evidence do you need? The West is not blind to our realities—they often know more about the rot in our system than we are even willing to it to ourselves.
