Threedoorsdown: She should be applauded for creating content out of a desperate situation? People create content out of everything these days, for social media clout or profit. Most people posting videos online are not motivated by the desire to bring about positive change, but personal profit. Although her case might be different in this particular case. |

She wasn't at any risk ,but probably because of her phobia for wild body of water she thought she was . The boat wasn't leaking It wasn't experiencing any severe turbulence as they waited for fuel And moreover, she had a Life jacket on. So what was there to be afraid of that she had to record it and post on social media to spoil business for the ferry owners? Or was she afraid that some "mamy water" would capsize the boat? Well, Instead of refusing her boarding, the managers of the ferry should have educated her that there was nothing to be afraid of in the situation they found themselves so she could stay calm incase it happens again. |

triplechoice:A lot of people would die inside several times in that situation. And some would make videos to the time and cope with the trauma. But why are you not concerned about the the total irresponsibility of the boat managers and their reckless endangerment of human lives? This was not an act of God. 2 Likes |

Arostar2023:When the airplane crash landed from US to Canada, who did the recording? engers. I don't like recording everything but the smartphone has made it impossible to avoid it. Many people are recording without phones sef People react differently but to say she was at no risk is not true. Anything can happen. Weather can change anytime. The riverine communities in the South South have traveled many times on water and it's one small incident that will change everything. triplechoice: Please don't trivialize transportation risk. Anything can happen even to the best of the best in water

JuanDeDios:Those who would die "a several times" are those not used to that kind of situation and have phobia for large water bodies. I know because I have lived in a riverine area where the only means of transportation was boats and sometimes even canoes. She wasn't the only one in the boat and I don't think she was traumatized as you think if not she wouldn't go there the next day to board again. She overacted based on who she's and you're now ing her to escalate things without mentioning how exactly she was at risk.
How did they endangered her life? Tell me please And have heard from the management of the ferry before concluding they acted irresponsibly. Don't judge yet until you hear from the other party. |
JuanDeDios: 7:28pm On Apr 24 |
triplechoice:At bolded. Na which one we dey talk before? I believe they endangered the lives of the engers by taking off with insufficient fuel. There are usually no petrol stations in the water, so once you're stranded there, you rely on luck to find another boat with extra fuel or you call for a refuelling boat which may not be anywhere nearby at the time. If a heavy vessel happens to , the waves can capsize the boat. Rain can also start falling, followed by wind, which can capsize the boat. Yes, they had life jackets, but those have been known to fail. Some engers will even wear them wrongly. Even when worn correctly, they can fail. |

papyjaypaul: I didn't trivialize anything but put things in the right perspective for others to understand she wasn't any such risk in the situation she described. Following your reasoning that anything could happen, one could also warned that people don't board planes or even vehicles since accidents happen. |

triplechoice: Let me analyse your post again triplechoice: She wasn't at any risk ,but probably because of her phobia for wild body of water she thought she was . She was at risk in a body of water. And yes, der phobia can put others at risk. In the early 90s, comedians used road or plane accidents as comedy material until 9/11 and the multiple plane crashes that happened when Obasanjo was in power. What was the joke about? How men or women, Igbo, Hausa or Yoruba react when there is an accident scare? They even used 2face material that nobody wan die but we wan go heaven. There is a risk sir. triplechoice: The boat wasn't leaking I am not an expert so I cannot say anything on this but if something preventable like fuel was not checked, I don't trust their quality assurance checks. triplechoice: It wasn't experiencing any severe turbulence as they waited for fuel You have a good observation here. This is where customer service works. What is the update? How did the boat operators manage the sutiation to assure engers that all was well ![]() triplechoice: And moreover, she had a Life jacket on. Hello sir, a life jacket is a temporary emergency equipment. It's not a life jacket as you think it is. It doesn't mean you can't die with a life jacket on. We don't even know how medical conditions, people can die in water or the fear of water, which is real. triplechoice: So what was there to be afraid of that she had to record it and post on social media to spoil business for the ferry owners? Or was she afraid that some "mamy water" would capsize the boat? Well, Instead of refusing her boarding, the managers of the ferry should have educated her that there was nothing to be afraid of in the situation they found themselves so she could stay calm incase it happens again. I agree with your last paragraph but if the boar operators were serious, they will also have live recording and monitoring of their operations. It helps in investigations too. We live in an era of citizen journalism. That's why I put the Delta air crash video on my last post. It was recorded by a enger who was in the flight despite the fact that it was an accident. Was that spoiling the business of Delta Airlines even though the airports have cameras everywhere? 1 Like |

JuanDeDios: Oga Have you heard from the management of the ferry before concluding on what made the boat to stop midway? It's not uncommon for boats to stop halfway or any other time on a journey. It happens all the time and people who ply it regularly are used to it Boats don't just capsize because they suddenly stop due to fuel shortage or engine failure. Or do they capsize because of strong waves made by other ing boats or vessels. If the boat is leaking and overloaded when it stops, then there's something to be afraid of. When it rains, they usually provide something to cover with and sometimes the ferry are built with a covering for engers to hide . Honestly you're talking from inexperience. If you go to say the things you have been saying here to those used to boarding boats everyday in Lagos and elsewhere in the country, they would laugh at you to the extent you feel very embarrassed. |

papyjaypaul: You don't get yet I said the fear she expressed was her own personal emotional reaction to the situation which she tried to justify with reason. There was nothing to be afraid of. She obviously has phobia for large water bodies and that was what she focused on and recorded and posted on social media. If I were on that boat ,I certainly wouldn't react they way she reacted . I'm used to it and know when it can be risky to be stranded. I have boarded planes in the past that experienced serious turbulence in the air to the extent some engers cried, said their last prayers, or even fainted, but I wasn't bothered much during those times because it something I have become used to. So please, don't to use the lady's of the incident to judge they were at risk. You haven't heard from the other engers or the management of the ferry to know exactly what happened. |

DesChyko: I have experienced similar scenario before. Finished an offshore operation outside Lagos bar. Since I couldn't wait for the covered boat to arrive, I took a speed boat and somewhere around Tin Can, the boat parked up midstream and it was already nightfall. It was a very scary and discomforting experience. Called for another boat before the wackawickee boat captain got the engine revving again after 35 minutes of drifting amidst waves. |

You will not understand how traumatizing that thing is. Just between the marina at badagry to cross to entrance of point of no return. You are looking at the place like this oo. Shouldn't be up to 5mins on boat that's how engine quenched . The way the waves was tossing the boat during the few minutes they used to restart it. Fear gripped those of us not used to water travelling terribly. Those waves are powerful jare. So I cant imagine being in the middle of no where and this happens. |
