Well said! When I was still in corporate Nigeria, my bosses were my "Next of Kin" and not my wife or children. I had to explain that to my wife when she saw who I used as "next of kin" in a document. She questioned why it was not her or any of our children. Currently, my next of kin is one of my rich neighbors that we greet and do jogging together. I trust he is someone that if called on any emergency concerning me, he would act immediately. Next of kin should be someone that has the means, both financial and the capacity to act on your behalf, in case of emergency for you. Do not use a lame duck as your next of kin. ![]() But for inheritance purposes, where your assets, savings or investments have to be given to next of kin, you can use your family member - wife, children or parents. My point is in case of any emergency, always indicate a capable person as next of kin. If I travel and had to fill form in a hotel, i use my capable friend as next of kin. 2 Likes |

Zionmdde: If he got the context right as you claim then his wife is the proper next of kin to him not his "small" son. To him and his children dragging that beliefs his next of kin is the heir to his money laundry wealth. |

Numerouno94: *In court next of kin must involve in letter of istration, you are taken to the bank. *In bank, next of kin must be involved, before your money is released. *Also, wen any worker dies during the active service, next of kin must be available before any termination benefit paid, be it private or public. So, those who are putting their close relations as next of kins know exactly what they are doing. Though, it's advisable not to use minor in other to make the process fast. Meanwhile, how many Nigerian writing will? Or even sharing property according to will? 2 Likes 1 Share |

One of the areas where you get to see that government and legal are Fraudulent Liars. For NOK under Natural Law means the person whom the Ceased voluntarily chose to replace him and inherit whatever benefit or liability that falls on the Ceased. Lawyers when would you people break this fraud just as you broke the one that said women cannot travel without their husbands permission? Or the one that said women cannot inherit. It is time this rubbish and L.A business should be separated. |

izubext007:I can't give you references and citations. But from what I have read, the first thing to consider is a will. So it's important for people that have assets to write their wills. In the absence of will, the law of succession is looked into. This may vary from state to state. But mostly, if the marriage is a statutory marriage, the surviving spouse is given 1 third of the assets while the children share the remaining equally. If the marriage not statutory, then the property would be shared according to the traditions of their village. |

Zionmdde: I think Dino Malaye too is a money laundering entity too. If that makes you happy. Poverty is a state of mind. I value peace of mind more than money. How can you measure my "hatred for wealthy Igbos" because I have come to understand and express that understanding that all these night club owners and betting companies too I should say are means of money laundering in Nigeria today. I come to this conclusion after a careful analysis of the variables I can see and as a good citizen who wants a "better Nigeria" ![]() If you don't know, money laundering is one of the major factors that devalue the Nigeria and perpetuates corruption. All those billions and trillions you hear government budget for development genuinely sometimes are stolen away through money laundering including your so-called GDP value. When you go to these clubs and buy a drink of 4000 naira 120,000 or even at $4000 what or why ![]() ![]() See me I am for truth and justice as I see it. Not God first but God only. I no send anybody papa and I am not alive to make you happy and neither do I value your word as I don't expect you to value mine but you cannot tell me not to say what I think neither will I weigh or sugar coat what I think and say to sound "correct" to you. Live your life forget whether some tribe like you or not free yourself from that bondage nna biko. Everything is not about your tribe or other tribes. So because he is Igbo he cannot be accused? I cherish integrity more than everything else if there's anything else after integrity. You can quote that about me. Start monitoring me if you like so as to call me out where I deviate from it in my comments. I honestly wish I can tell you that I hate Igbos but I don't but I hate evil characters and spirits in whomever they possess or possesses them. |

Focusmind: In the corporate world, when you die, whatever the company will pay goes to the next of kin. Listen carefully. As long as you have a wife and a child, if you like use God as your next of kin. The company will your wife and there goes your money. That is the rule and lawregarding next of kin in corporate world as far as Nigeria is concerned. Companies, ministries, name them have been take to court over this and the wife always win 100%. Even if you use your sons names, it still goes to the wife. When I was doing my service, I worked in a department where people continually make this mistake. You have problem with your wife and she is an ex,as long as you have a kid, if you like put your papa or mama name or even your son. As long as she is living with that son and taking care if the son. Your family and friends don't have a case. If the organisatio dare gi e the money away, the wife takes that organisation to court and on the first sitting, the wife wins. Do anything you like with this. The same with property when you die. Igbo brothers take note. Your late brothers property doesn't belong to your family if he has wife and kid. 1 Like |

mariovito: Next of kin means exactly what it says on the tin. In a kingdom , you can have more than one prince but the crowned prince is the first amongst equals. Next of kin is equal to the “crowned prince”. Take Saudi Arabia for example MBS is not “heir” by succession, however, he is the “next of kin” - heir by default . It is legal and hardly contestable even in court. The other guy in lost this right due to his struggle with drugs. MBS father is still alive, but by default “next of kin” - he is lord. |

descarado: Possession is given to the wife not ownership. The wife is an for the benefit of the kids. This is because the children are considered not capable or old enough to manage the inheritance. The mother is a vizier in this case not the heir. If at any time the next of kin challenges he/she will win hands down. TKO In the west people name dogs or cats as heirs or next of kin. So, how does a cat buy food or go to the vet. 1 Like |

noobody:you can’t underestimate the role of the movie industry in influencing people’s perception and thought process! Unfortunately our intelligence And government are not smart enough to direct this sector like the cia and others have done! Even certain orientation and societal values can be thought with collaboration with skit makers ! India does that too during recruitment drives there sponsors scripts about military service and how it is all about serving the country and sacrifice |
descarado: 3:41pm On Apr 24 |
Seniormanchi:Only if the wife is not the next of kin. Also, the wife can do anything with that and claim it's for the benefits of the kids I am only talking about corporate will and next of kin. |
