Trump plans to cut medicine prices.

https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/trump-looking-cutting-us-drug-prices-international-levels-sources-say-2025-04-22/

Sources will of course frame it that lower pharmaceutical prices will reduce the profits of big pharma , leading to lower IRS tax revenues which means programmes to fund the downtridden will face cutbacks.
Or something like that.

He's not cutting nada. The number of times you folks get fooled by the same person over and over again is quite frankly, extremely astonishing.

This is synonymous with Dayo's lingering expectation of Pentagon cuts. Running to the Internet every five minutes to find anything remotely close to ever repeating promised Pentagon cuts. Now that Fuhrer has announced that in fact Pentagon's budget is going instead, upwards of a Trillion Dollars, folks are stealth moonwalking out of the room.

Doge don die. Elon Musk faded. Meanwhile, we are still waiting for said cuts.

meanwhile Biden had an actual $35 cap on insulin for seniors on Medicare.
Something Trump himself called a radical approach and immediately sought to dismantle as soon as he could. Anything that helps people is immediately classified as radical by the right wingers.

Now we’re supposed to celebrate his concept of a plan to cut medication costs. Not even action. Just plans.

All talks and no action. Like his no tax on tips promises.

This is the anti science conversation I was trying to bring up the other day before a misguided troll tried to subvert it with the typical obsessed anti lgbt rhetoric. As if science automatically means gay people 🙄.

Anyway, the science community is not your enemy. They exist so that the stuff you feed your children can be safe.

When you cut staff to organizations like the FDA who make sure food producing companies follow recommended health safety guidelines based on scientific data, you risk poisoning the entire population.

Until this issue is resolved, I would only feed my family anything that can be washed or cooked prior to consumption.

Leave out liquid milk or boil it before giving your kids. Or stick to brands you are sure you can trust.
We’re back in pre-historic times .

WASHINGTON, April 21 (Reuters) - The Food and Drug istration is suspending a quality control program for testing of fluid milk and other dairy products due to reduced capacity in its food safety and nutrition division, according to an internal email seen by Reuters.
The suspension is another disruption to the nation's food safety programs after the termination and departure of 20,000 employees of the Department of Health and Human Services, which includes the FDA, as part of President Donald Trump's effort to shrink the federal workforce.

The FDA this month also suspended existing and developing programs that ensured accurate testing for bird flu in milk and cheese and pathogens like the parasite Cyclospora in other food products.
Effective Monday, the agency suspended its proficiency testing program for Grade "A" raw milk and finished products, according to the email sent in the morning from the FDA's Division of Dairy Safety and addressed to "Network Laboratories."

We know you desperately want govt spending to keep getting bloated and you are so disappointed when they cut spending.

Sorry the disappointment is just starting

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth signed a memorandum today announcing the cutting of $5.1 billion in wasteful Defense Department contracts.

"That's with a 'B'; $5.1 billion in DOD contracts for ancillary things like consulting and other nonessential services," Hegseth said while recording a video of the announcement from his office.

Not brand news

But I bet any black person/s in this community who complained of experiencing racism at the hands of the officials were probably told they’re playing with race card or victimizing themselves

Oklahoma’s governor, at the urging of protesters, has called for multiple county officials to resign after they were recorded talking about hanging Black people and killing a journalist.

As NBC News reported on Monday:

The governor of Oklahoma has called for the resignations of the sheriff and other top officials in a rural county after they were recorded talking about "beating, killing and burying" a father/son team of local reporters — and lamenting that they could no longer hang Black people with a “damned rope.”

Gov. Kevin Stitt called for McCurtain County Sheriff Kevin Clardy, county Commissioner Mark Jennings, sheriff's investigator Alicia Manning, and Jail Larry Hendrix to step down after the McCurtain County Gazette-News published an article over the weekend about what was captured on the recording.

Racism goes both ways. Black Americans are champions in it but they belong to the victim class.

Like I said, these guys have no clue on what they are doing. They saw a bot library online and decided it was a good idea to use it to moderate Nairaland. The don't know how to tune it, they did not test it on a staging environment, instead they tested it on production environment only to find out the bot is not working as it should.

Bots are good for flagging for humans to check not enforce rules. They can be very successful if this was to catch spam posts.

S3un:
Dear Nairalanders,

I want to thank you for your continued and patience as we tackle the crisis caused by our decision to use the antispam bot to enforce more rules on Nairaland. While the action helped us to tackle many chronic issues, it also led to disastrous ban of hundreds of innocent Nairalanders. To significantly improve accuracy and reduce frustrating errors, we have refocused the bot's tasks. It will avoid moderating complex issues that require human nuance that it cannot reliably provide.

While we work on further improvements, here are some tips to ensure your posts don't accidentally trigger the bot under its current, focused mandate:
- Keep your posts related to the thread topic.
- You can disagree strongly with fellow Nairalanders, but do not insult them.
- Don't put any type of obscene content on Nairaland.
- Do not encourage or call for violence against anyone.
- Don't spam or try to scam Nairalanders. We will not tolerate this.
- Don't illegally or post links to illegally copyrighted music, movies, games, or software.

We believe these changes are a significant step towards a better balance – tackling clear violations more effectively while minimizing the frustration caused by bot errors on complex social issues. We will continue to monitor the bot's performance closely.

Thank you for being part of the Nairaland community.

Best Regards,
Seun Osewa.

And I am telling you confidently that no cuts are going to be made. DOGE has not been there, and no announcement equal actual cuts. If you think cuts have been made, then bring us the facts of said cuts.

You want me to take announcement to cut as actual cuts? One would never believe you once voted against this crap!

the mayor of the city was perceived as the villain because he kept trying to play down the shark attacks and refused to close the beaches. but today, i understand the nuance. Amity island economy depended on tourism. without it, the town would die. the mayor was between a rock and a hard place and there were no easy answers for a town whose economy depended on summer tourists

somehow trump a so called real estate /hospitality billionaire who built hotels and casinos that depend on tourists for cash flow and revenue does not understand what tourists bring to the us economy.

this is how he went bankrupt multiple times and this is sadly how he will bankrupt America .

RFK Jr. Set to Launch Disease Registry Tracking Autistic People
And he’s using private medical records to make it happen.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is using private medical records to create a registry of people with autism in the United States.

The National Institutes of Health is helping to collect private medical records from government and commercial databases to give to the secretary of health and human services, NIH Director Dr. Jay Bhattacharya said Monday. The records include prescription records from pharmacies, lab testing, and genomics records from the Department of Veterans Affairs and Indian Health Service, private insurance claims, and data from smartwatches and fitness trackers.

The NIH is also working on an agreement to secure Medicare and Medicaid data, according to Bhattacharya, who said that select outside researchers will be able to access and study, but not , the collected data from the registry.

Kennedy, a longtime critic of vaccination, has made the study of autism one of HHS’s primary goals under his tenure. The department’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has launched a study to examine links between autism and vaccines, even though medical experts have long debunked any such connection.

The news that HHS is putting together a registry and accessing Americans’ private medical records raises all kinds of privacy concerns. HHS and its departments, including the NIH and CDC, have laid off thousands of employees in the past few months, possibly giving Kennedy and Bhattacharya, also an anti-vaxxer, more compliant employees to push their agenda.

Kennedy has drawn criticism from mainstream medical researchers by calling autism “preventable” and made the outlandish claim that he can find a cure for the condition by September. On top of that, his vaccination stance has led to a haphazard effort to combat a growing measles outbreak across the country, as he gives conflicting recommendations on vaccinations versus quack treatments. What kind of conclusion will such an approach yield in his autism crusade?

the word we are looking for is eugenics

LOWERING PRESCRIPTION DRUG PRICES: Today, President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order to expand on the historic efforts of his first term to lower prescription drug prices.

The Order directs the Department of Health and Human Services to take steps to significantly reduce drug prices for American patients.

The Order helps states reduce drug prices by:
Facilitating importation programs that could save states millions in prescription drug costs.
