I love love love Bimbo Ademoye's Broken Hallelujah Good evening Peeps, happy Easter! It is my vision of a Christian movie come to life! A movie that can actually preach Christ while integrating normal societial relationships; a movie that shows what it means to be a married Christian couple. I loved that how she used Biblical references as voices overs while the scene depicted it i.e. show not tell unlike the standard 'Mount Zion' movies where they are quoting it. I especially loved that the challenge was not a terrible husband; it was unexplained infertility. Christian movies depiciting terrible 'Christian' husbands whose wives has to pray and grovel for irritates me A LOT! For better for worse references life's curve balls and you two standing together to overcome them. My Diya that was crushing on brother Okudili the drummer boy while she should be singing praise worship ![]() ![]() And their married life? On point. A couple can be Christians, have a great sex life, excel in their businesses, and have a colourful life not withstanding the storms of life. Their lives must not be drab, boring with them relating like robots. The also did well to constrast the relationship between the husband & his partner viz a viz the wife & her partner. Evil communication truly corrupt good manners and I applaud the movie that the husband held on despite his partner's influence. Even his near encounter with Beauty, it was the partner. Constrast to the wife who had Hajia to encourage her to keep holding on. I imagine it was someone like the serial babydaddy; she might have told the wife to try someone else since it was unexplained infertility. On to Beauty ..... 'Oh Jesus, this is so good' was truly an escape for daddy wa and I love that he literarily fled the scene; the Bible says flee from temptation. And when his wife caught on, he did not justify himself. He apologized; geniunely apologized! So so refreshing. Yes, his wife's disobedience and the resulting events instigated him... however, he could have gone to drink; reported her to the Pastorate, the options were limitless. It is also a pointer that 'we take heed least we fall'. I am sure that if he was asked a week before if he would sleep with beauty, he would have said no. This leads asking about boundaries; while we can claim that he was professional while measuring 47 inch hips, it could start something that will lead to late night fittings and other wahala. The MIL's desperation which resulted to visiting an herbalist was great. I loved that her shortcoming was slipping away for a bit and looking for help outside God than the classic evil MIL troupe. And it was great that the herbalist's stuff did not work; that would have been solving a temporary situation with a permanent problem. The husband praying for the wife and her overhearing him, golden! The wife's gradual loss of faith, translating to other aspects of her life? Well depicted. Who else thinks the elderly wise ghost was her mother? Her advise for her marriage made a lot of sense; it takes two to tango. And I loved she reached out to him since he was stretching his hands, waiting for her to take it. It was fresh that he was the one making the effort and not her as in classic movies. I was lowkey waiting for the other shoe to drop with the husband; it was great that he was even a better husband than boyfriend. ![]() All in all, a good movie ![]() 5 Likes |

Well, i'll say it was a nice movie particularly cos I'm a Christian but I found a couple of scenes too incredible for my taste - the speed with which the guy blew up in lag even after his shop was burnt, the accents of villagers sounding foreign, the reoccuring guardian angel and the propensity of the drummer boy to repeatedly resort to violence on street urchins was quite distatsteful imo

Gloriagee: 1. Don't you believe in miracles ![]() 2. Didn't notice 3. Well..... 4. This! I commented he had anger issues while watching which was why I was waiting for the other shoe to drop in his marriage. They should have told us he was working on anger issues or made him stand up for that guy in the different way. |

That blowing was too quick imo. Not even flat, duplex; the exotic cars; bukatyne: |

Gloriagee: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() That's something they could have done gradually so christian couples know it is OK to struggle and build in the beginning; it doesn't mean God loves us less. But the focus of the movie was the infertility and my people say 'someone cannot suffer two predicaments at the same time' ![]() |

Gloriagee: Yes. Especially with God, you can not blow quick like that. Even Joseph took almost 20years to blow So, the producers do not really know God 1 Like |

bukatyne: Sorry to spoil your joy but infertility is a Curse laid upon unholy people. So, the producers do not really know God and therefore are no different from nolly and unholywood producers |

StillDtruth: Ah Toor! Sarah, Elizabeth, Hannah, Rebecca, and Rachael were unholy also. |

StillDtruth: Wow. May you come to the Knowledge of Christ. What is this? Lol |
StillDtruth: 6:40am On May 04 |
Tfem2: If you have truly acquired the knowledge of Christ then you would have known that deluding yourself does not change what God has Said. |
Tfem2: 11:21am On May 04 |
StillDtruth: Like I said. U do NOT KNOW HOW TO MAKE a POINT. You are the delusional one, dear |
StillDtruth: 11:24am On May 04 |
Tfem2: You are the one deluding yourself because clearly my point has already been made and there is nothing you can reasonably say against it |
