In a trending video, a Nigerian banker has opened up about his frustrations with working in the banking sector. The man revealed that he has been employed in a commercial bank for 16 years, yet has nothing tangible to show for all his years of service. Expressing his disappointment, he said: “I’m not too happy because it feels like I’ve been used for the past 16 years. I’ve been doing my work diligently — look at the time I’m leaving for work now, as usual. It’s as if I’ve been used all these years and there's nothing to show for it.” He went on to advise parents whose children may be considering a career in commercial banking to think carefully, stressing that working in Nigerian commercial banks is not for the faint-hearted, especially for junior staff. “They will suck you like an orange — suck you dry and then throw you away,” he lamented. While acknowledging that some people are thriving in the commercial banking sector, he claimed that such individuals often have powerful connections. “It’s those who know the right people that are making it big,” he added. In an attempt to console himself, he expressed hope for a better future. “But I know that as today marks my sixteenth year in the bank, God will show me favor — I’m confident of that,” he declared. He concluded by saying that if anyone could help him secure a new job, he would gladly leave the banking industry, emphasizing that he’s not ready to die working in a commercial bank. In a very funny twist, while trying to round off his speech, something amusing happened. Being the early hours of the morning, as he walked along the road, chickens nearby began making their usual morning noises, interrupting his recording. In a hilarious moment, he commanded the chickens to stop making noise, speaking in Yoruba dialect. His lamentation has since drawn mixed reactions across various social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X (formerly known as Twitter). This man is not focused,he has no plans,he lives direction less, hence this frustrating remark. Since he knew there's no future for him there,he would have planned his exit. This is actually the reason why most commercial bank staffs take to fraudulent means to make it because they've virtually lost hope. It's never too late,he can still plan his exit legitimately. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

That's the similar story with almost everyone in Nigeria o. Mine pained me Sha. Just when my income increased by 600% and I was happy that my profession has finally paid off after many years, then Mr. Oloriburuku's inflation brought me back to ten years ago with his outrageous inflation policies. Now I'm back to square one ![]() 53 Likes 4 Shares |

U dey use ur money phuck Ashawo that's why. You lack vision. You lack wisdom. Many people are even praying to have such jobs, so they can save and establish themselves for life. Check yourself very well. You're your problem. We've seen private sch teachers earning far lower than you but doing tangible stuffs with what they earn. If you think it's all about how much u earn, then you're foolish and unwise. The bank you're working Must sack you now cos they don't deserve to have people like you as their staff. Na ur type dey steal bank customers money from their s. 5 Likes |

They will suck you dry and that you will become useless to your own self, they will Rob you of your time, freedom e.t.c they are only after their own profit, target, e t.c, they don't care nada about staffs. Job that gives you virtually no time for your own self, development and wellbeing. Sometimes depressing

You have to do what you love, not what will make you rich. I wrote a book 8 years ago, which took me 6 years of reading and research to complete. But at the last check, I've sold just about 200 copies. On top of that, I recently wrote another one. I was about to start writing a third book but my laptop computer developed a fault. I gave it to a technician to repair but more problems developed. I am just waiting to get a new laptop to start writing another. When I write a book, I feel like freeing myself from prison. And it may surprise you that it's not because I like writing per se but because I like sharing the type of information I write about. By the way, I've put out all the books out there for FREE. If I make money from it, fine. If I don't, fine. Do something you like. 3 Likes 1 Share |

4years in banking and I have a lot to show. I learnt one secret and ever since then I haven't look back. Is not about the number of years u spent there, but the experience u garnered and use for ur personal growth. If u are not in the core management team of a bank, don't stay too long,if not u would be working and wasting away. ,their loans is a big trap that can keep u in bondage unaware. Be wise! 26 Likes 9 Shares |
