Six Nigerian tourists have been detained by immigration authorities in Cape Verde under controversial circumstances, News360 Nigeria reports.

The tourists have been identified as David James Udoh, Lily Dada, Oghenero Adaware, Sherifat Abimbola Ogundairo, and Jesutomi Aina.

On Wednesday, an X , Tobi Ojenike, raised the alarm on social media, claiming her friends were being falsely accused of human trafficking.

Ojenike alleged that the Cape Verdean authorities were attempting to deport the group without due process, with the assistance of an unnamed individual.

“They’re framing them as human traffickers and denying them access to a lawyer and have them locked up. Please, who can I speak to? This is URGENT,” she wrote.

“They’ve been detained in a small room for days and attacked by policemen who have inflicted wounds on my friend. The ECOWAS is aware of this and are doing nothing!

“The Cape Verde government is trying to sneak them out of the country that they legally came into! And trying to pin them as human traffickers with the aid of a random stranger who’s seeking greener pastures and has been convinced to agree to it!

“Please help me. My friends need to get back home! They’re still he’d at the Sal Airport in Cape Verde and have been told not to resist the police.”

Let's hear from the side of Cape Verde authority before we can conclude. I don't trust this X report. Some Nigerians can be something else when looking for greener pasture. Kudos to Nigerians representing us well across the world and fuvk those tarnishing our image outside

You’re complaining that they want to deport them

You’re still pleading that they need to get home

It is well

Wishing them all the best especially if they’re truly being framed, nothing as bad as literally being labeled and hanged

Well, a lot of Americans get arrested in many tiny countries aborad, and no one thinks it diminishes american power.

Infact there are americans serving jail abroad. Nothing like your country is bigger than mine when it comes to breaking the law.

You said they should help your friend and his co-travelers to get back home and at the same time you said the country authority want to repatriate them. I think they should let the government repatriate them

Because America's success far outweighs its failures.

You are dumb,

She requested that due process be followed, the Cape Verdean authority should first investigate their status as tourists and, if necessary, deport them or let them stay in the country for a holiday.

When the police beat you at a roadblock, you will be the first to complain that your rights have been abused.

Cape verde? Very horrible country.
Anyways the Nigerians have been released with no explanation or apologies given. Cape verde is a terrible country that hates black. Even black Americans are not spared. Very racist country.
They see themselves as Portuguese.
There are several cases of ill-treatment and abuse faced by other africans visiting that country.

On the one hand, it's not hard to believe that they could be guilty.

On the other hand, Cape Verde is populated by racist mulattos.
