Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has reacted to a news report which suggested that Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, dismissed the recent concerns he raised regarding the security situation in the state.

Zulum had said Boko Haram has renewed its attacks and kidnappings in the state with little pushback from security forces, suggesting that authorities in the region are losing ground to the insurgents.

Zulum stated this during a meeting with security forces in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, on Tuesday.

Daily Trust reports that Boko Haram militants and its offshoot, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), have mainly operated in the northeast of Nigeria, attacking security forces and civilians, and killing and displacing tens of thousands of people.

However, the Minister was said to have dismissed the governor in a publication (not by Daily Trust).

In a statement signed by Rabiu Ibrahim, the Special Assistant (Media) to the Minister, Idris noted that this is categorically false and a gross distortion of the Minister’s remarks.

“At no time did the Minister say, ‘Ignore Zulum, Boko Haram is not taking over Borno.’ Such a headline is not only sensational but deliberately crafted as a deliberate act of misinformation to stoke public misunderstanding and distract from the serious work the Federal Government is doing to address security challenges,” the statement said.

Weighing in, Zulum in an interview with journalists, Zulum said the information minister is naïve of what is happening in the country.

He reiterated his istration’s commitment to tackle the resurgence of Boko Haram in the state.

He said: “I don’t want to issues with the Minister of Information. I believe he is naive of what is happening in the country, he doesn’t know what is ongoing in the country. Our discussions during the Security Council meeting were not bad. We just raised an alarm that there is resurgence of Boko Haram activities in Borno State, and there is a need for Borno state government, the military as well as paramilitary, to work together in order to avert the looming situation. I think this is very good advice. Nothing has been said again.

“But most importantly, I want to assure you that we have been to Abuja. We met the service chief, especially the CDS, Chief of Army Staff, Naval Staff, as well as Air staff. We received assurances from them that they will do everything possible to control the situation, and we are so happy with the response that we had from the service chiefs and the government of Bono state will continue to partner with the Nigerian military and the federal government of Nigeria with their view to reducing the menace of the insurgency.

“And I want to assure the people of Bono that Inshallah, under my watch Boko Haram will not have the capacity to do what they did before. We shall do everything possible to curtail them. The Government of Borno State will provide more to the Nigerian army. We shall strengthen the resilience of our civilian GTF, hunters and vigilante and most especially, I will live up to the expectations of the people of God by completely addressing the problem of insecurity.

“I believe, when we took over from 2019 to date, there is a very serious gap. What has been happening these days will not be allowed to remain unchanged.”

Is the VP not from Borno state, what exactly is he doing to help secure his people. He was the governor of that state when chibok girls were kidnapped, he blamed the FG for not doing enough, now he is the FG.

If he can not secure his people as VP who will

Not that.

Zulum and APC people are desperately trying to destroy Buhari’s image.

Nigeria Boko Haram: Militants 'technically defeated' - Buhari
Published
24 December 2015

Nigeria has "technically won the war" against Islamist Boko Haram militants, President Muhammadu Buhari says.

He told the BBC that the militant group could no longer mount "conventional attacks" against security forces or population centres.

It had been reduced to fighting with improvised explosives devices (IED) and remained a force only in its heartland of Borno state, he said.

Boko Haram has been described as one of the world's deadliest terror groups.

Critics of the government argue that it has exaggerated the scale of its success against the militants, and that each time the army claims to have wiped out Boko Haram, the militants have quietly rebuilt.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-35173618

Nnamdd1:
The Nigerian Army has handed over the flag of Boko Haram that was recovered from “camp zero” in Sambisa forest to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Major General Lucky Irabor, Theatre commander of Operation Lafiya Dole handed over the flag to Buhari at exactly 10:30 pm on Friday, December 30th, at this year’s regimental dinner organised by the presidential brigade of guards.

Speaking at Friday’s dinner, Irabor said troops arrested 1,240 suspected Boko Haram during a mop-up operation inside Sambisa.

In his response, Buhari, who recounted how he was nearly killed even before he collected his first salary in the army stated that keeping Nigeria united was paramount.

“I believe you are here because you want to be here and you cannot complain. We will do our best to build the national institutions in the country,” he said.

“There are 250 ethnic groups, so keeping Nigeria one is a task that must be done. So even for a personal reason, you must make sure this country stays one and remain strong.”

On his part, Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai assured Nigerians that they will continue their onslaught in the north-east.

And dumb

As dumb as his boss who delegated security questions to El Rufai in London? Or the president is dumber and dumbest cheesy

Maxymilliano:
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has explained why he delegated some of the party to respond to questions posed to him.
According to the former Lagos Governor, he adopted the delegation method “to show team-ship”.

Tinubu spoke at the Chatham House lecture titled: ‘Nigeria’s 2023 elections: In conversation with Bola Ahmed Tinubu’, monitored by The Nation.

At the lecture, Tinubu after his opening remarks, assigned Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai to speak on how his (Tinubu-led) government would address insecurity and asked the Director of Strategic Communication of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Dele Aleke, to respond to the question on oil theft.

Tinubu also delegated a former Commissioner for Finance in Lagos State, Wale Edun, to respond to a question on how he (Tinubu) would boost the economy if elected.

Others, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; former Ekiti Governor, Kayode Fayemi; APC National Women’s Leader, Dr Betta Edu; also answered questions.

Tinubu said: “Let me demonstrate here one of those philosophies and doctrines that I believe firmly in, it is team-ship, unbreakable team. To demonstrate that, I’ll assign it to my team.”

It was only Yaradua that intentionally did something about boko haram.
Jonathan the clueless first poured fuel to the fire, then began playing victim, he only made real efforts 3 months to elections.

Buhari the dullard, he was never intentional about anything. It's just like we had no president. The situation however improved under him, thanks to Buratai.

Tinubu the criminal, his government is strictly for the elites. The rest are on their own.

The government is not serious in some area, it use sensitive positions to appreciate party loyalist, for example; what stop the government from making former Army's chief (Ohejirka) minister of defence, or where is Buratai? These guys did well during service, why not bring them in?

Oga..

What was their campaign promises in 2023 YOU probably cheered alongside?

Tinubu will handle Economy
Shettima will handle what again?

I know your subconscious mind will complete the answer to what shettima will handle & be focused on as promised.

Even in the so called shettima's state, insecurity is echoing loud via the Governor, people are dying and kidnapped and yet, state of emergency will not be declared there.

The utterances and action of Prof. Babagana Zulum gives the Presidency vibes that the Vice President Shettima is ing this his brother against PBAT.

Zulum and Ndume are singing from the same hymn book and they seem to be critical of the security situation of Borno State whilst Ndume seems to have taken a bold position on the state of affairs in the country.

The Vice-President Kassim Shettima is the political Godfather of Prof. Zulum and ally of Ndume.
