The Presidency has described President Bola Tinubu as a detribalized leader who populates his government with competent hands.


Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare said a breakdown of the 134 federal appointments has shown that the president appointed 71 Northerners and 63 Southerners.

This comes as Borno South Senator, Ali Ndume accused Tinubu of lopsided appointments.


Stressing that Tinubu’s appointments are sectional, Ndume said they fall short of the federal character principle.

Responding, Dare, in a statement titled: “President Tinubu and Appointments,” said: “On this issue of appointments by the Tinubu istration, it is important to state that President Bola Tinubu is a detribalised leader.

“His antecedents before he even became president speak to this fact. As Lagos Governor, President Tinubu populated his government with competent hands both from within and outside Lagos not minding which tribe you come from.


“As President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains the same man who is not blinded by the cloak of tribe or religion. He understands that the mandate he won is from the six geopolitical zones of the country and therefore knows that he bears the responsibility to carry every section along to build a very strong nation.

“People tend to isolate new appointments so far made by the President to examine them with a tribal lens but it is too early to conclude that appointments are lopsided. Tinubu has barely completed two years in office yet, there are plenty more appointments still coming.

“In fact, a more expansive view of key federal appointments across major government institutions and agencies shows that the President is on the right track as far as Federal character is concerned.

“A glance at this list of 134 federal appointments shows that the Northern part of this country has a total of 71 appointments compared to 63 for the entire South.

“When you break down the 63 positions given to the South, the South West leads marginally with 26 slots while the South South has 21 positions. The South East with five states has 16 positions.

“So, if we carry out an unbiased analysis, you’ll see that there is no cause for alarm.”

In my view, prioritizing the North entirely at the expense of the South would be a repetition of the mistakes made by the Jonathan presidency.

While I believe the president should adopt a balanced approach, it is crucial to make it clear to the North that Nigeria does not revolve solely around them.

The North always seems to want it all—constantly demanding more and never satisfied when a Southerner is in power. Then, they retaliate at the polls, leveraging their numerical advantage. Breaking this cycle requires someone who can anticipate their moves and outmaneuver them by any means necessary.

And the best person to take on this challenge is the BAT presidency.

Mrs Olakunrin died of gunshot wounds in July 2019 after her vehicle was attacked by armed men, suspected to be marauding Fulani bandits whose violent activities had reached a frightening level across the southwest states.

it is not you talking, it is frustration, bitterness, hatred, grieves and defeat spirits speaking in you, only 46% is from SW, 14 from SE that voted for ibos, such magnanimity is rare, 20 from SS.

Why is northern getting unnecessarily agitated?After all it is Muslim-Muslim presidency which most of the northern Muslim population cheerfully ed in 2023 election.

I don't have much issues with the 71 appointment he has made from the north, my small problem is why does he deliberately sideline the Christian population of the North East (my region)? Even the Christian population self in the north central he still sidelined dem. Anyways i hope he knows what he's doing.
