A tragic incident has occurred in Aba, Abia State, resulting in the death of two persons following a heated argument over unpaid salaries of staff of the Abia State Water and Sewerage Corporation (Water Board).

ABN TV gathered that the sad incident happened on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Ukaonu Street by NEPA in Aba South Local Government Area of Abia State.

The deceased, identified as Uche Onyekaba, a staff of the Abia Water Board from Igbere in Bende Local Government Area, was among over 20 staff whose salaries were suspended by the Abia State Ministry of Power and Public Utilities since last year.

Sources told ABN TV that the late Uche, who had reportedly lost two of his children due to inability to afford medical care as a result of the unpaid salaries, got into a heated argument with another man over the lingering salary crisis affecting workers of the agency.

The argument, which turned physical, saw Uche allegedly hitting the other man with a stone, leading to his death.

Eyewitnesses said the tragic scene turned worse when an angry mob descended on Uche and beat him to death before security operatives arrived.

Confirming the incident to ABN TV, the spokesperson of Abia State Police Command, DSP Maureen Chinaka, said command operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the area, moved swiftly to the scene and recovered the two bodies.

"It happened at Ukaonu Street by NEPA in Aba South Local Government, Abia State. Officers of the Command, led by the DPO, recovered two dead bodies. Investigation revealed that the two individuals were quarrelling, which led to the death of one, and an angry mob killed the other," she said.

DSP Chinaka said the corpses had been evacuated to a morgue while investigation is ongoing.

Seems people no longer believe in the rule of law again. Anarchy is looming. The culprit should have been handed over to the Law enforcement agency.
Police should arrest those who killed the second guy for murder.

Now, who will kill each individual involved in the lynching to continue the cycle of murder?

Shitty death...
But I believe arguing with a man who has lost two kids within such a short period due to the salary is plain stupidity.
You can never understand where he is coming from or feel his pains.

We need to criminalise mob lynching as order police to shot them at sight!

This is getting out of hands!

Avoidable tragedy. Government in Nigeria is just full of unserious people who have zero idea of what public service entails.

You accuse the aboki people of illiteracy but you're displaying barbaric attitude more than the so called illiterates.

Again, who will save this country from these black people?

Otti needs to resign. His incompetence is killing people and seems his istration is solely focused on reducing the population of Abia State.

But at a time, Abians deserves every woe that befalls them. It’s like God specifically created them to vote incompetence.

That state has not had a governor in last two decades. Furniture’s they keep electing into the government house and they never learn.

What a sad day. May the deceased find peace with God.

3:16AM and your brain is still asleep. Do you reason at all.

Yeah, but the reason why the.man had not been paid was because he was on suspension.

More like an internal matter with his working place than apc or government
