£2000 in London is like a drop in the ocean.
Lets make a breakdown of expenses.

Let say you are considering a shared room of maybe £600 monthly, utility bill of £100 per month. Expenses of let say grocery of £200 with £100 for transportation monthly.

That is a total of £1100 a month.

Back to Nigeria, 500k naira depends on the region and area. 500k in northern state like Zamfara or Sokoto will last you a year.

And how exactly is 500k going to last you for a year?
I don't think it's possible.
PinkNature(m): 11:18am On Apr 07
500k in Nigeria. I'll live in a northern city like Abuja, Kano or Minna.
Then strive to get a side hustle that'll give me at least 200k monthly.

Do you as a person regard people without money ? undecided

I feel lonely in Nigeria. Also, most people don't regard you as anything if you no get money. What else?

500k can't give u a quality life in today's Nigeria, even if u are living in Northern state.
C'mon! Isn't that an exaggeration? Let's leave out Kano and Kaduna. Do you mean 500K won't go a long way in Gombe and Bauchi?

Meanwhile, after all that, u will still be living in fear because of high insecurity in the country.
That is a valid reason to choose London sha.

I will choose 2k in London, for the sake of my sanity, access to quality health care, and the future of my kids.
This "future of my kids" always sounds funny to me these days. Before, it was a valid reason, but not anymore. I have my own life to live to the fullest first. A major reason I am all for fewer children, minimum one, maximum two.

In place like Zamfara where accommodation is cheap, you can get a good selfcon for 100k per year.

Groceries expenses of maybe 25k per month

Utility payment of light bill of 10k per year

Transport of 4k per month

Let calculate:

Accommodation: 100,000 Naira per year

Groceries: 25,000 Naira per month x12 months = 300,000 Naira per year

Utilities (light bill): 10,000 Naira per year

Transport: 4,000 Naira per month × 12 months
= 48,000 Naira per year

100,000+300,000+10,000+48,000=458,000 a year.

Jokest joke

U are responsible for ur kids warfare, and therefore u are expected to consider them while making a decision that would indirectly affect them

Ask them where they reside and they'll mention a location that they have dwelt in all their lives. I know living in north is cheap but it's not as cheap as y'all think. First stay in the north before you open mouth dey cap rubbish.

I live in the so called cheap north, 20k no dey last me a week, I barely cook anymore, just buy food, data and airtime with small expenses, money dey fly comot from hand like werey.

Did I add that I mostly eat just twice a day, so no feel like say na steady enjoyment things.

Please let's be guided, this country don spoil finish any money wey enter, food go finish 80% ......

One even said that 25k will take care of his feeding for a month, while 10k will take care of NEPA bill for a year. I was just wondering whether they are talking of a different north that is unknown to me

People will just come online and talk something that is totally different from the reality on ground

Please state the food that your 150k fit reach to stock for a month?

Is it the expensive rice, beans or yam?

Abi you wan dey chop sweet potatoes till it comot from your ears.😂😂

BTW you and I know say things like that wouldn't last a whole month without getting spoilt, so you gats buy in smaller quantities.

E get reason why I stop to cook, yes I know it's more satisfying but you fit use like 10k to cook food wey no go last that day, depending on what you're cooking.

The only thing that can save you, if you have a mini garden or farm where you plant vegetables, at least that one is out of the question, then buy rice and beans even if na 10 mudu each, yam cost die, potatoes fit supplement a little.

If you're very prudent, you fit survive. Prudent in the sense that girls and pals aren't coming over to help finish the food, and you cook stingily. Hahahahaha.

Other measures that could help, dating a chick that sells food, or cooks and bring along, then having good neighbors as per bachelor wey go dey show you love time to time, just know that you sef go dey show their children love time to time...

Either way, you'll spend.....

I can swear that the person still dey live with their parents.

Let's assume light bills na 1k per month, it would take you even 12k not 10k and we all know that's a big lie.

Two years back, even before all this band A nonsense, the year I did in my parents house, I was paying their light bills and every month, nothing less than 15k dey drop for bills and most times we go just gather 10k go pay to avoid disconnection, so please ask that werey where him see 10k a year light bill from.

Even if na single room with just bulb and radio, you go pay 10k per year.

As the joker said 25k per month on foodstuffs, that moment I realized the werey doesn't even buy shaving stick for him self, everything na parents dey provide, so he's out of touch with reality.

Reason why I don't take so many nonentities on NL serious...

Let me nor believe you are blowing things out of proportions.

With 30,000 you can buy 3 paint of rice
A paint of beans is less than 10k.
Garri will be like 4k

Give or take 100k could get what could last a month.

Am trying to get a realistic pictures. I know the inflation is really bad but lets be within limit.

While in London 2000 pounds u won't be able to recoup your investment before your visa expires unless u are lucky to get sponsored by a company within the skilled shortage visa occupation list that's before ur current visa expires and it cost u approximately 40 million upwards via student visa.

Your analysis is in order within limit but that of mom 55k can u take it one side for now.

So we are looking at an expenses of 240k roughly that leaves you with 250k plus savings in a month

Thanks for your input.
That means if you are earning 200k per month you shouldn't think of marriage?

I think fuel subsidy should be introduced back then let's look for other ways to genuinely track smuggling, track fraud in subsidy schemes because if fuel is sold between 250 per litre food prices will reduce drastically, same with cost of living

I be woman though,if I be guy for sure I will, that's why many guys don't assist anybody including parents because they want to marry, which is very wrong, for a man,he can do with 3 pairs of tro and 5 pairs of shirt, 3 boxers and 3 singlet with roll on and perfume of 5k.
But ladies story is quite different,it's not luxury but it's just what most women cannot do without if you want to look fresh.
However,we started small anyways back in the days ,the money is just for managing sake with this present economy.
As for my mum, she's all I have got, anything for her, excluding drugs and some other things she seeks from time to time

Me that like to order foods from different countries on ubereats, have neighbours from all part of the world, and dont like generator noise, or Naija sun that for all intent and purposes, is determined to roast me to death.

If no be my woman wey like comfort, I can live in a room and have my peace. There should just be light and internet. But since my woman like comfort, then that 2k will give me same lifestyle in places like rural Poland, or Russia.

Or Rwanda.
I’ve been thinking of traveling to Rwanda next year, I’d like to know your honest opinion about the Country, and the budget needed to settle in..
Thanks.

People like deceiving themselves. Abuja is to Nigeria what London is to UK. So, your comparison should be with Abuja. How much is rent in Abuja with 24/7 light and unlimited data? , the house has to be in Maitama, Gwarimpa, Asokoro or any other estate inside city centre to have something close to the poorest neighbourhoods of London. Don't go to Dutse Alhaji, Nyanya or other slum areas. Then see if that 500k will be enough for you. £2000 will definitely give the person savings that will be up to that 500k in naira. How much do you think average Nigerian earns in UK yet they're investing in lands and other properties in Nigeria.

You are right if you earn 2000 per month let's say with house rent and bills taking over 1100 per month in cheaper area . Income tax 300,food n transport 300 you should get 300 pounds savings per month which is not bad.

300 *12= 3600 per year minus health insurance 1k
= 2600 per year
