No reason ( s) why a Bag of Cement should be Above N5000,in Nigeria! But last week,I bought 3- Bags of Dangote Cement,at 30,000.,but Why Mr Aliko- Dangote? - just a β. How Many Nigerians- will be able to build their Own Houses - with this high Price of Cement? β’ Some Weeks Ago,the Hon.Minister Of Wirks- Umahi had to call out that Cement Price Should Come Down, for it's Affecting the Contractors Jobs! But why can't the government - States and Federal - go in for Cement Production too? |

If his efforts lead to significant MACRO economic benefits to Nigeria as a whole, I am down for that. Most people say Dangote is greedy. I don't see him as that. I see as a ruthless magnate. And a ruthless magnate who can have his way in a country like Nigeria without an active visible political affiliation, that person holds power. If this leads to the dollar coming down, if this leads to significant reduction in inflation, if this leads to a higher EFFECTIVE GDP ....I am down for it. FVCK ALL OF YOU WHO THINK DANGOTE IS GREEDY......OR WHO STILL THINK HE IS A NORTHERNER.....FRANKLY I DONT GIVE A RAT'S ARSE |

Bluntemperor: You see that last question.... That is the only thing that made sense in all that you said. Everything you said before that last question was like....forgive the expression if you feel insulted.....a dog barking up the wrong tree. Now when you asked that last question.....insert the Drake emoji for YEAH....That's it. The problem with humans is that when they are in the thick of pain, they fail to see beyond their noses. The question you should ask is what is it costing to produce a bag of cement? What does it cost to bring that cement to the market....to the end ? Granted, monopoly plays a significant role in the price. But the question is, as you rightly pointed out in your last sentence, why is there a monopoly in the first place? Afterall the limestone deposits in Obajana, Ibese, Gboko and Okpella that Dangote uses are all Federal Mineral Resources. Consider the fact that Dangote has the largest refinery in the whole of EMEA. How much of that capacity do you think is being fully utilized? Why is it not been fully utilized? I'll give you a very simple reason. Petroleum Importers have a stake that they have nurtured for years. Part of the requirements for the continued existence of that stake is Nigeria's inability to run a functional refinery. Dangote defied those odds, and not only built a refinery but the largest one in EMEA. I hear he is about to start producing polypropylene. Now there is the beginning of another venture that the public will one-day interpret as the monopolization of the plastic industry in Nigeria. When Dangote builds that industry, no one will that the humble beginnings started now, when the noise of Dangote's stranglehold of the Oil and Cement industry was too loud for people to see the baby steps he started taking. That is what it means to be forward-looking. Something that is grossly lacking in Nigeria where the only way people see as getting rich is to be a pillager, a fraudster or a ritualist. |

xpressionx: Too many of us are programmed.... cannot think on our own . As soon as we see Dangote ... monopoly must be mentioned. How can he be a monopoly in a sector when others are allowed to compete? Is it a monopoly or competition? If his fuel is too expensive....what is stopping the competition ... the importers from selling at a lower price? How can one expect the price to be stable or reduce when the Naira is unstable and been in a decline? The car you bought 10 years for N750K .... why would you be selling it for more today? ... ten years later? @ topic. Local industry is the way to go. I have no problem with Dangote and petroleum nor cement production. But I have major concerns with this agriculture venture. Would it be GMO crops? if it is then we will be in serious trouble. Whoever controls the seeds controls the crops and will have control over price and therefore our food supply. Then there will be contaminating our natural crops and putting local farmers out of business. Bill Gates is now into large scale farming ... GMO crops through which he can get "vaccines " into our systems without our knowledge. Is he working with Dangote? We need to pay attention. |

xpressionx: He can say anything ... the question is does he have sole license? If yes ...then one can say he has the monopoly on petroleum products. If no thenn he does not have the monopoly. Which is it? No Dangote products compete favourably with whose products? .... domestic or foreign? And how does he get an unfair advantage? Defend your statement. |
