I noticed my inverter starts beeping and eventually turns off when there is little sunlight for as low as just 10 minutes (when gate and compound lights are on). When tv and fan is also on, it starts beeping in as low as just 2 minutes and then goes off. In a nut shell, e wan be like na when sun dey blaze e dey function well.

Then after careful thought, I decided to disconnect the MPPT charge controller and connect the batteries and solar wires directly by bying the charge controller. Omo rain fell for 2 hours and I still had light with TV , fan and every every on. If it was before, the inverter for don off coz there is little sunlight. What could be the issue and what could be wrong? I'm a novice on solar energy but it seems like the charge controller is not allowing the batteries to charge properly. That's what I'm thinking.

Is this also a good or bad decision?

Yes, it is not the best decision to connect solar s directly to a battery. A solar charge controller regulates the voltage and current from the solar s to prevent overcharging, thereby extending the battery life.

It seems like the charge settings on the charge controller are incorrect or it is a defective unit.

Please share your charge controller model and your battery type.

Set as defined. I think option 05 in the settings menu

Then set float and buck to 56.5 I think option 27&28

Then set your low battery cutoff option 29.

Please use manual to confirm what I typed above...

i dont get how to enter setting

Good afternoon sir. The charge controller is as seen in the first pics.i have disconnected the solar and battery wires that's why it is not displaying.

Better go take that off unless you want to ruin your batteries.

You are at risk of fire outbreak from ur batteries by bying the charge controller.
You didnt mention the wattage and nos of s plus how they are arranged either in series or parallel?

Have you advised him on what to do to make his solar work more effectively and efficiently?
There is really no difference between you solar technicians and car mechanics. It's either you won't tell a car owner the root cause of his problems or you use a problem to create another problem so that they keep coming and you keep feeding fat from them....

Omo I don't really have a hands on answer to the questions as I'm a big novice. I just told the installer what I needed. He gave me the estimate but I can't the indept details.

But the s are 4 in number. They are arranged vertically side by side.

Ok, I was a bit surprised no one replied to your post earlier, but on second thought I realised why.

Firstly, 90% of the people that reply to solve problems here and give fixes are hobbyist and enthusiasts, I don't know anyone who is a "solar technician" and very few who make a living solely from this on here.

This thread is actually more than 15 years old and when I started paying interest in it as a novice ( 9 yrs ago, my professional background is finance), there was one advice they gave anyone who had questions, go and start from the first page and then bring your problem to the forum.

So newbies are very lucky as no one is saying that now as the thread is almost 2000 pages long. This does not change the fact that a lot of the people who solve these problems here have gone through the 2000 pages and used their time and life experiences to help others with little to no financial gain to themselves.

So please if you have a problem, be patient, no one is being paid to give advice that will cost you proper money if you sought a so called professional. In fact most of the so called "technicians" I have met in person are pretty rude and less knowledgeable than even an average enthusiasts on here.

If your post was about the guy who decided to by his solar controller and connect his s directly to his battery, it is a CAPITAL NO NO and he needs to disconnect it first for the battery and his own safety. The controller will likely be the problem, he needs to try changing the settings or get a proper controller. I am happy the guy is exercising patience and decorum while responding to people who are trying to help him.

Good evening. Is there a 7.5kwh battery on 24v for my 4.2kva inverter? I don't want to change my inverter but want to buy the lithium battery with a higher capacity. Is it possible cos the ones I'm seeing is 5kwh on 24v.

As said earlier, I disconnected the charge controller earlier this morning around 7am and I'm still blazing my solar with all household equipments on as I type. Before now, when the charge controller was still connected ,

1. The inverter starts beeping and goes off if cloud manages to cover sunlight for as little as 3 minutes. I have to start reducing load instantly so it won't go off. I.e I instantly swith off my TV , fan, PlayStation etc.

2. I no fit even use am for night. Under 2 minutes it has gone off without load even on it. The charge controller will be indicating that the battery is low..

All these while I always thought it was my battery that was bad but seems its not. There is simply something wrong somewhere.

Picture of the charger controller attaches.

Pse, who knows the current price of Victron Multiplus Inverter 5kva 48v and where I can buy it?
Ferdiwar: 11:41pm On Apr 06
You're issue is your charger controller.

1. It is either not charging your battery well as a result of wrong settings or connection or,

2. The charge controller is bad.

If you can afford it get a good charge controller (you can go for powmr if your on a budget or the likes of Felicity, snre, Xtra Power etc) and set the charging profile according to your battery specs.

Ensure the charge controller has equalization features for lead acid (flooded) battery, and set it to run the equalization process once a month or so depending on your usage (you can read up lead acid battery equalization on Google for better understanding).
