The charger is 14.6v 10amp, What kind of diode can i use and where can I get it from please?
get a 10A rectifier diode.

Okay noss, I've asked 2 shops that sells solar equipments they don't have it. I'll keep searching.

But wait,
A 50a bms on a 4s4p at 6a is a very serious overkill.

Get a charger via converter at 1amp.

Get an active balancer.

Sorry I don't understand this.

And can I still use an active balancer together with the ive balancer on the bms?

Please guys, I need your inputs 🙏
I've been using the common small blue pmw solar charge controller, but I have to hook up a buck converter to it as advisedby some here, just to monitor my li-ion battery voltage and ensure it doesn't go beyond 12.6. Because using my blue pmw solar charge controller, the lowest charge voltage is 12.7v, already above 12.6v.

Though beyond 12.6, the BMS will cut off charge in the long run, but I prefer it stops charging at 12.6.

Now what brings me here is that, I need advice on an affordable PMW solar charge controller that is effective, efficient and reliable for 12v Li-ion battery, such that I won't need buck converter to stabilise/stop charging my battery at 12.6v

Don’t use PMW for li-ion. Get MPPT or buck converter.
PMW only works well with deep cycle batteries.

Any controller type can work well with li-ion, it is your configuration and setup that matters, about 4 customers of mine has been using li-ion battery packs I built for them for close to 4yrs now, pwm charge controllers were used in all the installations.

What do you mean by "only works with...."?
Probably you use an uneditable ones which is strictly for lead acid batteries.

The are pwm with settings as mppt but not common. Any BCS....pwm will work with any battery chemistry.

What if you're using a charge controller?
Is 20a safe?

Mine has editable settings, still doesn't charge my pack. It even reduces its performance. A lot of folks knows PWM isn't good for 18650 batteries. Why do you suggest it?

Who are the alot of folks?
Get a good pwm and enjoy your system.
It had been installed by me and even Penuelseun mentioned it also. Snap your pwm. No here agreed with your claim.

So because yours don't work well, others too won't? Hope it is not those cheap pwm? Is there a sticker on it?

I got the 10a rectifier diode, open up the charger and solder it to the positive wire. It did stop the reverse current flow but when I take the voltage reading from the charger mouth, the voltage dropped from 14.6v to 13.7v. I understand it's due to the internal resistance of the diode but I want to know if that will be a problem for the BMS on the long run

A >10A Schottky diode like the MBRF20100CT. You need to mount it on a heatsink as it gets warm/hot when delivering current through it.

It depends on the type of buck converter.
Some can edit amp while some are defaulted to 5a fixed.

Yes you're right, I noticed this.
I'm planing to extend the wiring to place the diode close to the fan of the charger since the fan on the charger is always on while charging

Hope you included a small heat sink for the diode?
Because 10A at 1V drop out is 10W and it's a lot of heat power for a free running diode. The voltage drop is topical for diode (0.3v to over 1v depending on lot of factors). The diode should fix the reverse current issue, perhaps it's faulty or not properly connected. Finally, the 13.7v would not be a problem for the BMS.

I was hoping the fan inside the charger would expel the heat from the diode.

I did say it stopped the reverse current, but I think the charging might be slower now because of the voltage drop.

You just dey stress yourself up and down grin.
6ah 4s system is too tiny to slap a whole 50a bms.

Get an active balancer which is the most important to prevent voltage inbalance.

Charge via a buck converter set to your desired voltage and have peace of mind.

By the way, will you use inverter for this set up? What are your loads?
