Indeed, the foresight of former Governor Bola Tinubu of Lagos State and his team in partnering with Chagoury Group to rescue Victoria Island from the horrendous waves of the Atlantic Ocean which would have buried the entire Island right now and threatened Ikoyi Island, Lagos Island, Lekki Peninsula, etc,(due to rising ocean waters caused by climate change which has melted some of the largest icebergs in the North Pole and South Pole) was pure genius. NO right thinking person can fault him on that majestic project which raised the already eroded land from the former Bar Beach area back to glory to form Eko Atlantic City like the mythical Egyptian Phoenix.

Referencing the Banana Island reclamation you talked about, I've been aware that a significant part of those reclamations are illegal and since about 2020 right till 2025 warning shots have been fired by the Lagos State government to those illegally extending the original Banana Island master plan and shoreline. The irresponsible attitude of some folks to NOT wanting to do things legally needs to be studied as a special case study in human obstinence. You CAN'T do these sorts of land violations in Singapore and China otherwise you'll face the full weight of the law and it's time for Lagos State to make scapegoats out of those doing this. There's an ecological reason why existing landmasses are NOT extended through land reclamation in some places to protect the existing natural flow of water from being obstructed while natural water flows from the lagoons right into the oceans.
