Americans are groaning about inflation and now prices are about further go up. Jobs are being cut all over the place, mass/self deportation is starting affect farmers who rely on cheap labour from migrant workers and some are on the verge of bankruptcy. Tinubu's shege will be child's play compared to the type of shege average Americans will see in this istration. This is how he wants to make America great again?

😆 🤣...you dont have an idea of what you are talking about. US per Capita is very high meaning the citizens have a lot of money. That makes it an attractive market for all other coutries of the world. The alternatives wont give you same revenue which may not be sufficient to cover your costs.

Why do you think car makers like Toyota,Benz, BMW, Honda, etc have their largest market share of almost 65% in America?

Think deeply bro. I detest Trump as a leader but he sure knows how to throw America's weight around.

Na to find alternative o. Who advised Trump that USA should implement policies that will end up isolating them from the rest of the world?

It's going to be of little effect on Nigeria anyway cos we barely engage in very large exportation to the US. We are more active in importing from the US which makes our deals with US very out of balance. Nigeria wouldn't feel a thing cos Tinubu has modelled Nigerians to accept any fire or hardship coming from anywhere without flinching. Nija people na Die hard people...

Try to read. You're already charging America 24%. Increase it to 48 and get ready to pay 24%. You give them 2, they give you 1. Fair enough yeah? You either go and beg or restrategise.

You don't know anything. This tariff will discouraged importation and boast local production. These countries need America market more than America need them. Most of these countries will go into recession. The US have been Father Christmas for far too long.

Outside technology, what's else these markets can't get from China and other developed nations?

For country like Nigeria, it has little effect on us, because we export little products compare to what we imported from American, infact, our products largely crude oil and price of crude oil is fixed globally, so, the tarrif would definitely to America citizens to bear.

If country like Nigeria reduces the tarrif for country like America because of high tarrif Trump imposes, it would be to our own disadvantages, because our market would be flood gates to US market and our own market would greatly damage because of superior advantage US companies have over Nigeria companies.

A global trade war can only lead to a global economic crisis and recession. Inflation in America will go out of control. Americans will live to regret the day they voted for Trump.

In all this you have to appreciate the American president for having a human face.
This order was made several months back but was only executed in April.
Giving importers and other stakeholder time to adjust their ledgers.

Also, the US is the biggest importer in the world and in fairness to them the balance of trade has been lopsided, especially with Europe that has little to no American goods presence.

When allies become leeches you just have to do the needful.

PS, with all the tariffs Buhari imposed on foreign imports did it help grow local production or boost exports? Not really.
Every new policy is an avenue for new thieves to emerge in Nigeria.

Also, the so called rise in tropical products will be borne by fellow Nigerians/west Africans in the US. So I don’t see where the inflation comes in.

American companies producing locally will be expensive for Americans. American companies are benefiting from cheap labour when goods are produced outside America. Nobody wins tariff wars as it affects both countries.

Trump is dumb.

True that, although I believe we still need to restrategise because America was to Nigeria what China is today. High tariffs and too much poverty are why we shifted our attention to China. The day China decides to get themselves a 'Trump,' we’ll be toast.

No his not.
If you’re interested look up countries like Norway, Switzerland, Austria… if you earn high you should spend appropriate, yes buying cheaper is good, but Americans can afford made in America products. They have institutions that handle price control and Purchasing Power Parity.

Inflation is out of control in Nigeria due to people like you who voted/preferred a Tinubu. Do you regret the day people like you voted Tinubu?

If inflation rate, at over 25% in Nigeria at some point, did not stop people like you from defending the government, why do you think that Trump's voters will regret voting him? Make it make sense, pls.

Frame 1: what should have been our situation if Tinubu did not reform immediately.

Frame 2: where we are right now and why a lot of people and organizations globally are excited about Nigeria’s economic prospect.

Sad as it sounds, this is exactly what Nigeria. (African) leaders need to do. Discourage imports and force your local industries to produce

True as it sounds. Do we have the right policies? If yes, what of execution? Do we have stable supply of power? If yes, at what rate? Do we have access to loans? Can we compete at this stage? Do we have selfless leaders to drive homemade product? If we do, in the short and long run, will it be affordable?
Reference(m): 6:10am On Apr 03
The overall aim is just to bring production and jobs back to America, the first target being American owned companies making stuff abroad because of cheap labour (lower standards of living).

In effect he is saying to his people. Pay more for goods and services so your brothers and sisters can have more jobs and earn more on their existing jobs.

This is a fundamentally sound ideal for any country's economy but fraught with all sorts of minefields in practice.

It is exactly what the present Nigerian government has being trying to do albeit without the tools of sound economic control.

Boost local production of tropical crops? Can't you guys be smart for once? Even the things america produces have you ever asked yourselves why they import it instead of producing locally? The labour cost in America is high and if he likes, he should continue increasing tariff, for most goods going into america, it will still be cheaper to import from china, India, Vietnam etc. The price of the goods in America will just go up and his people will pay high. In the mean time, when china raises ots tariff, American farmers will go out of business, that's a fact!
