'I Was Afraid To Spit On The Street' – Chidoka In Awe Of Kigali's Cleanliness (2740 Views)

A former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka has described his experience in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda as ‘unbelievable’, owing to how clean the streets are. Chidoka, who posted a video of himself on social media while jogging in the city said it was his first time in Kigali and he was very impressed by the level of cleanliness in the city. The former Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said for the first time in his life, he was afraid to spit on the street because of the level of cleanliness of the environment. He also itted that being clean has nothing to do with economic status. “Living in Kigali is an experience. Hilly, clean, fresh air. Unbelievable. For the first time in my life, I was afraid to spit on the street, looking at how clean the environment is. This is Kigali. It is my first time here and I am impressed, super-impressed”. “I have seen that cleanliness has nothing to do with economic status. I ran through a poor neighbourhood, the place was clean, sparkling clean. The houses were one-bedroom apartment, very small houses”. However, some Nigerians who commented on Chidoka’s video have criticised him for being among the leaders who messed up Nigeria. A Facebook , Joel Ajaegbu wrote “ For the first time in your life, you are afraid to spit. That means you have been spitting on Nigerian roads. God will judge you and other leaders who made the country as terrible as it is”. Chibunna Shed Izunwa wrote “You are seeing all these things in Rwanda but when you come back to Nigeria you’ll shut your mouth”. Ngwoke Kenneth Kizito wrote “Wish you were able to enforce helmet for motorcyclists in your time as corps marshal rather than extort them to buy the FRSC helmet and look away after few months. It’s shameful how some of you who have held offices in Nigeria without a remarkable achievement appreciate developments in another country. Not surprised u re looking for Facebook money”. Afolabi Babatunde wrote “Sir, did you find time to check on the altitude and patriotism of the people towards their country?..I think u need to look into that part also to make a complete sense of your story…radarada..do they abuse and insult their own country like most of do ?..do they wish other tribe downfall and speak unprintable words to other tribes ..pls Mr Ostia fact check also”. https://thescrutinyng.com/for-the-first-time-in-my-life-i-was-afraid-to-spit-on-the-street-chidoka-in-awe-of-kigali/ 2 Likes |

Usmanovic95: You know what's funny? Let me share a clean joke. ![]() In Rwanda, every last Saturday of the month, from 8am to 11am, everyone participates in what is called UMUGANDA. It is mandatory d failure to participate will earn you a fine.
Does it sound familiar? My own people in Lagos cancel am because of rights and they want to make money ![]() You can't lock people up to clean You can't do this We are not in military rule. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5NirEFQdTk? You see am? I don't like to say this but once Nigerians start to hear about something, they want to overdo it. Rwanda needs to be careful with my people because in their stupidity, they love to spoil their own and praise other people when other people are looking up to them🤡 Having a clean environment is not rocket science, we just like to indulge in dirty behavior. Watch them turn it into a tribal post when we are talking about environment. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

A ride through the Rwanda countryside. Lovers of nature would be impressed with what they see in this clip. As for me, i was not only impressed but also began to wonder at some point if what i was watching wasn't some kind of staged movie set or AI generated. When i showcase clips of Nigerian cities and its countryside, THIS is ultimately the kind of sanity, organisation and neatness i want us to aspire to. What stands out in this clip are the good and neat roads, total absence of litter/rubbish, and the lush green vegetation that's seen throughout the entire duration of the trip. Life in Rwanda appears to be unhurried, organised and sane, and tourists can relax during their trip safe in the knowledge that bloodthirsty bandits and kidnappers are not lurking in the nearby bushes waiting for the next victim to ride past.! The emotions i feel watching this ranges from envy to anger to regret. If you understand how Kigali achieved that through dictatorship, you will not bring any comparism with Lagos. People were chased away from Kigali anything with a semblance of slums, shanties were brought down. The population dropped drastically. |

Osita is from South East. A firmer minister. Why not compare Kigali with South East. This people are too inferior to my liking. When in power they forget every ideas and good thing. When out of power, they have all the solutions. Mtcheeeeew |

chinchum: What was one of the reasons Nigerians thought Buhari was their savior in 2015? The War Against Indiscipline. How can these people in a democracy want a military societal war? The answer is obvious.
Will governments continue to destroy slums? Yes. It's not only in Nigeria, other African countries are doing this. Government that looked the other way to allow city planning go to the dustbin now wakes up to clean their cities. Unfortunately, it's what it is. By the way, Lagos wants to bring the sanitation back. Please watch the video to see the Lagosians you want to give free hand. You can't beg them. They also had market sanitation on Thursday or other days depending on the market. The State government has had to close some markets for poor sanitation. Eg Ladipo market
In one of my posts days ago, I posted a video of Lagos being the dirtiest capital city in the world as at 1972. That was Pa Femi Okunnu's assertion. I will repost it on my next post 👇 |
