I have peace of mind since I stopped this
two things
1) going to church
2)trying hard to impress people
Most of these modern churches don't have God In them, it's just business and slavery,they set up these churches for the sole purpose of profit tithes,offering and the are slaves or stepping stones,they keep pressuring you to bring more to the church in guise of soul winning you will just waste all your time and productive years if you are not careful.
As for the latter,you can never impress people impossible! Stop trying to impress people because it is an endless journey you want to embark on,you will never impress them, I personally don't give a damn! Sometimes last year a lot of my friend and family always insult me saying I am lazy and ambition less they say it the reason why I am not doing well in life .
I heard their advice and became hardworking God willing things started to change for me financially ,money started coming in,did you know most of these my friends and family started becoming envious and jealous ,these are the same people that always advise me in the past now what happened?
My observation about people is that humans love bad news more than good news,people will more excited to hear you went to steal and got caught than to hear you bought a new car,so why worry yourself over people who are mostly sadists ...

But my own peace of mind came and still comes from the fact that, since I realized that no one is coming to save me,since then,I said to myself I'll work my assss out just to make my life better than what and how it used to be these previous years+++my peace of mind comes first before any other thing............

If na Anglican, Catholic, Methodist, Protestant etc go give you joy, pls locate one and worship your God since it is like Pentecostal no favour you. But pls don't stay away from God completely..

Ur number 2 (impressing people) reasons why you have problem with number number one. Your personality trait seems to be a perfectionism character, anybody with such trait would always meet disappointment, since humans are not perfect not even in our society that full of corruption.
This is the reason you are disappointed in church, because you taught church is supposed to be a perfect place, you fail to understand that these people you meet in ur church are not perfect and they can never be perfect, infact, church is not a place exclusive for righteous people as you erroneously believed, instead, it is a meeting for for both the righteous and sinners.

I stopped going to Church more than 25years ago and I have no regrets.
Stop trying to please people too especially friends and family rather do good according to your ability especially to strangers who you can see needs help. It doesn’t have to be money.
About impressing people, I have never done it.
