My neighbour used microphone to pray in the night. He is a pastor and he stays in the next flat. Like he has this big outdoor speaker that are meant for outreach but he used it to pray last night and I couldn't sleep....he did this in early hours of 4am to 6am. This is my first time coming across someone that uses microphone in-house at that early hours. Normally, he prays loudly with his voice like 2 times in a week but we have never confronted him because we are already used to the noise but microphone? I tot noise pollution normally ends with music untill i met this. I approached him but he refused. He said it is his property and he has every right to use microphone. It ended in a heated argument.

I and my family are not tenants. The house belongs to us and we are only 2 occupants in the building. 3 Bedroom flat each. He said we should give him quit notice but he can't stop using the microphone.

Now I want to know if what I did was wrong. Is it ok to use microphone to pray in the night, although the volume was reduced but I could hear the noise and it disturbed my sleep. I was the one that met him in the noon since my husband went to work. He is in his mid 40s and they are 4 ppl all adult about the same age living with him except for his girlfriend that is in her late 20s. and we are a family of 5. My last child is 1 year old.

Am I wrong? Please honest opinion. Thanks.

Report to the agency in charge as the landlord before someone else does, else your house might be sealed up

Nothing bad in what he's doing! Oh, of course, because who wouldn’t want to be spiritually enlightened at 4am with a full-blown sound system.

I think both, he is the overseer of his church. he probably is obsessed with microphone and he doesn't pray in his bedroom that is a bit far from our rooms but prays in the sitting room which is closer to us.

This particular night, he later logged online and was praying on his platform, I knw about this because of the pattern he prayed.

Am still shocked because I thought those mummies are the ones that only uses microphone to pray in early hours of the day on the street.

We thought about this but we feel Nigeria is already rough enough for him to start going through the stress of looking for accommodation. He parked in last year June.

Do you think the sleep deprivation will not affect your family in the long run, Your mental health, children school performance etc

When giving out apartment we told our agent we don't want religious activities in the compound. If you can't worship your God without disturbing other people then don't come in becos u will be kicked out. If you appear too religious or too gangster-like, we won't rent accommodation to you. Just appear like a neutral or a reasonable/ responsible person and I can tell u that I am happy with the tenants we have. Working class dudes who have no time for crap.
