Of a truth, how can North Korea with all the sanctions against them ND tyranny if it leader, plus use of it's little economics resources to finance weapons ND military equipment,

How did they manage to still build this brand new city ..? Why can't a Nigerian city be like this even after billions allocated to governors ND fct minister.. for decades we are still talking about roads...

Because the FCT residents and indigenous people have never had the opportunity of voting the Lagos master builder to become their minister tongue

They rejected him and he stole the presidency and he is currently building the whole country into something far better than this picture in your opening post grin

We hope to be alive to witness his finished works 🙏 if ever he has even started his building in the first place 😏

What you see there is the showpiece capital city.

Outside Pyongyang, a lot of NK people live in very poor conditions.

And then there are those living in prison camps for crimes of either being religious or criticizing the government or attempting to defect to China.

Only approved people can live in Pyongyang. People who hold the right beliefs and have no physical blemishes.

And NK is on life from the Chinese. Without it, it would have been harsh.

I wish you good luck as you japa to the DPRK. I'm sure you will enjoy the pleasures of Juche lifestyle

Abuja is a very big disgrace of a capital city, that spend more money on wide roads than productive institutions/buildings.
It's only in Abj you will see several empty estates built by corrupt politicians, empty unproductive lands, misuse and indiscriminate building of Residential areas.

The shocking thing is, even the CBD is not well built up, because they are only concerned about funny structures like national worship centers

The first criteria for anyone to compare Abj to that picture is orderliness before you start talking about structure.
Even the VI you are talking about is not as organized as that picture, when you do an aerial view of 4 cardinal points

You under-estimate the resilience power of the human minds to solve problems that they truly want to solve.

First, North Korea (just like Communist China) is not a democratic nation and never pretend to observe human rights.

The Supreme Leader, announce tasks to be done (e.g construction of 100km roads or 20 sky scrappers along a boulevard) and everybody key into this.

1) They don't award contracts: the citizens build their towns/cities themselves. This build capacity, Foster sense of patriotism and reduce corruption.

2) There is no opposition and/elections: the divisiveness of elections and opposition politics are eliminated.

All hands must be on deck to achieve the set goals and anyone that tries to deviate from it are treated as traitors ,with punishments that can range from death sentence or imprisonment with hard labour.

3) There is no term limits: The leaders aren't distracted by 'how to win the next elections or the temptations to embezzle money to be able to live comfortably after office'

4) The heavy sanctions make it very difficult for North Korea to import things, so they they look inwards to find ways they can use what is avaliable in their country to solve their problems. In the long run, this 'punishment' is a blessing in disguise for North Korea, though it can also make things very difficult for them e.g North Korea resorted to collection of human excreta of their citizens to be processed into organic manure because they couldn't access fertiliser. This may seem disgusting and even expose some people to health hazards but it worked. It boosted the Country's food production in the face of almost total isolation.

This sums up why African nations will never catch up with the level of developments we see in western countries and even Asian countries today.

The only leaders that have the capacity to develop their nation to a world-class standard are Dictators, Emperors, Kings and Queens.

Democracy is not meant for nations still struggling with development, it is meant for nations that have achieved national development and now looking for ways to rotate the leadership for the sake of equity and inclusiveness.

And African nations missed that era we had Military Dictators who were supposed to develop African nations to global standard.

Democracy is not the best system of government for Nigeria. If Tinubu was a sensible man with good intention for all Nigerians, he would have been a good Emperor to rule Nigeria for like 30 years, but the man is so unfortunate, so bias, so tribalistic and so greedy that he hardly gets satisfied with stealing public funds angry

It is funny when people use high rise building as a measure of development. Normally people build high building mostly because of scarce lands. If you are talking about a well planned city I will agree with you.

It's because of the failure of the government who failed to strictly follow the city master plan. There should be a strict building regulation in the FCT and there must be a standard which every building must meet in every location

I won't use high rise building to judge a city. There are some countries in Europe that don't have high rise buildings enough.
The main thing is that does the city look well planned with other infrastructure like tram, train, good road connection, etc.

Development of NATIONS requires

*Discipline
*Knowledge a.k.a Technical man-power
* Unity of purpose.

It is far easier to achieve these objectives in countries where most peoples share common ancestries, world views, value systems and speak similar or related languages or practice similar religions.

African countries that are close to this stage (Burundi, Rwanda, Senegal, Eritrea and Somalia) can become great if they have strong leaders .

No individual political party or tribes can rule Nigeria for a very long time because of the complex heterogeneity nature of the country.

If colonialism hasn't distrupted African political systems, we ought to just improve and modernize our Kingdoms into modern nations and we would have developed faster.

This was what happened in Morocco, Libya, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and many other Arab countries that simply transformed their Kingdoms into modern nations.

The next best alternative was what the British did : Indirect Rule followed by Self-Goverents and finally Independence based on PARLIAMENTARY democracy and True Federalism but the Military struck on Jan-15, 1966 and abolished this system.

Another truth.

That's why Nigeria need to peacefully disintegrate to give Nigerians the opportunity to have various countries of their own based on regions that share same or similar language, culture, religious belief, etc for a more united smaller nations that will be repositioned for greatness to emerge.

But unfortunately, the greed for crude oil money won't allow most Nigerians to accept this truth

Funny when you don't think it through before reply, if high rise building is sign of development why are they only available in cramped cities mostly ones that filled from edge to edge and not suburban or rural areas in the US. Why are there well organized cities in Europe without high rise building but are still classified as modern cities, again have been to onitsha and enugu?
Land is scarce and expensive so most people tend to go for storey buildings instead of ground houses and as land because more expensive and unavailable, skyscrapers will come to the rescue, I bet it will extremely difficult to see free land lying about in cities like new york.

You won't want your country to be run like North Korea.

1. The same corruption you complain about in Nigeria, is there too.

2. Hundreds of DPRK citizens flee across the border to China and then take several routes to get to South Korea.

3. There are thousands of people in prision camps , some for something their relative said against the government, and some for not reporting anti-government propaganda.

4. No freedom of belief or freedom to critique the government.

5. When you leave the cities, the poverty hits you in the face. Big time

6. The economy is basically on life from China.
