Good evening

So my husband was visited by his mother. My husband has a habit of praying at night. He began praying (not loud) at midnight. His mother who was in the other room rushed in and said

"stop that, so something doesn't enter your mind."

There have been several instances where my mother in law has treated my husband like he is a stranger

One Christmas, my husband bought clothes for his mother — his mother rejected them, "they are not quality, why don't you use them yourself?"

She is used to assassinating my husband's character to virtually everybody.

Is this normal?

Motherhood is a talent not every woman has... Some of them only have children to please the sociatal norms.

Maybe she has mental issues... Your husband might have kept it secret from you but if you pay attention, I'm sure you will understand

This is so true on many levels. I feel in the future this will be a lost skill as the younger generations are really something else. You Will probably make a good mum one day

Even now some women have vowed to never have children because they don't want them, they consider the idea of being responsible for someone else's upbringing as a burden to them while others had plans to have children, only for them to have one and decide that they didn't want to have more because motherhood isn't for them... They'd only manage the one they already have.

Then there are those women who have children, but low-key hate them... I've heard two women confessing about how they hate being mothers and regret having children, but they have no choice but to care and love them because there's nothing they can do about it... Some only had children to please their men.

Could it be spiritual?

Some women are just not meant to be mothers and there's nothing spiritual about it.

Damn that's really sad. My heart goes out to the kids as it wasn't even their choice to be brought into this world. Children nowadays can be stressful but they are still a blessing and some people forget they were once kids as well. They probably hate it because they only care about themselves. Do you have any of your own

Leave them, it doesn't concern you. Let them solve their issue

Well, it starts with pleasing societal norms but it almost always ends up with the mother ready to give her life for the child - even if the child was an accident or from rape or disabled!

I am one flesh with my husband,

Whatever she does to him, is not new to your husband and have probably accepted the way she relates to him as his mother.....don't stress it.

Have you tried talking to your husband about why his mother is like that? He's the best person who can enlighten you. We can only speculate.

Well it happens...maybe your husband have not reached the level she envisaged while he was growing up....sometimes she might exhibit such frustration spontaneously...if she's normal she will regret it immediately without necessary apologising..such mothers want to pressure their children to become best of themselves...but if she don't regret treating her own son terribly then she has mental issues or she detest your presence in her sons life...
