Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara yesterday took a clear step forward in the implementation of the Supreme Court judgement.

He forwarded a letter to the House of Assembly proposing March 19 for the re-presenation of the 2025 Appropriation Bill.

In the letter of March 13 personally signed by him and addressed to Speaker Martins Amaewhule, the governor recalled his failed visit to the Assembly Wednesday to present the bill in line with the judgement.

He said the presentation of the budget could not take place because he and his entourage were denied access the Legislative Quarters temporarily servicing as the Assembly complex despite the prior delivery of a soft copy of the notice to the Speaker after the Clerk failed to accept the hard copy.He further recalled that before the unfortunate incident, the Assembly had issued him a 48-hour ultimatum to present the bill, although he was yet to be served the certified true copy of the judgement.

The Supreme has directed that all arms of government should exercise their powers and perform their duties within the ambit of the Constitution and ordinary laws of our country and this we must do to end the lingering stalemate and advance the progress of our state and the well-being of our people.

“No matter the depth of our differences, we believe the interest of the state and our people should take priority over political conflicts.”

He added: “Against this background, it is my pleasure to again notify you, Mr.Speaker, of my desire and intention to present the 2025 Budget to the Rivers State House of Assembly on Wednesday 19th March by 11am or any other date within March 2025 that you may consider convenient.
Thank you for the kind consideration of my request by the House and please accept, Mr. Speaker, the assurance of my highest regard
.”

Also, yesterday Fubara waved the olive branch, urging the aggrieved lawmakers and other stakeholders to create an atmosphere of peace crucial for the implementation of the Supreme Court judgement.

The governor said he is open to “total peace,” stressing that there is no alternative to the apex court verdict.

Make una allow am, him don humble.

The government of a state na the whole of
The executive arm
The legislative arm and the
The judicial arm
And all of them dey equal.

You be governor no mean say na you own the state, and you can burn down the assembly complex.

If I were Fubara, I will return to Supreme Court to challenge the obstruction of the budget presentation by the house of assembly, until New verdict from the supreme Court comes out, I'll not represent it , after all, he has already obeyed the supreme Court order which the house deliberately avoided

You clearly don't have any idea how the Nigerian judiciary works. Otherwise you wouldn't have typed what you typed. You think the supreme Court is a building? It's judgement is binding and as it stands Fubara is in way above his political experience. Him f--k up big time. Person wey for wait at least when him dun finish first tenure, he fit go dey drag with Wike but no political base, no consolidation for Rivers state and nigga felt it's going to be an easy ride with Wike, a sitting minister. If you be Wike, you go do worst.

Exactly If the law is upheld, Wike has the most to lose. Each arm of government should stick to its constitutional responsibilities let the assembly perform its duties and oversight functions independently, while the executive focuses on its own tasks without interference.

many of the current house , including the speaker, may not return to the assembly. For some, this could very well mark the end of their political careers. Politics can be unforgiving when decisions backfire or public trust is lost.

Instead of focusing on laws and motions that would improve the lives of Rivers State citizens, they seem more interested in pursuing personal vendettas. Targeting the RSIEC Chairman, the Attorney General, and the Chief Judge only highlights their obsession with witch-hunting rather than governance. The people deserve better leadership and genuine legislative action that addresses real issues.

And you won’t get shishi from Federation to run the state until the case is decided. As part of the earlier judgement, CBN will also place PND on all IGR s of Rivers State government in all Deposit Money Banks. Oya now, let’s see who blinks first.

Reminds me of GEJ... no political ambition is worth shedding of human blood or denial of the masses, the benefits of good governance.

Fubara has decided to be the 'bigger' elephant and waved the olive branch so that the 'grass' does not suffer.

Why is Fubara becoming a coward lately.
Since he has all the militants behind him, what is he afraid of?
After all, the clown lawmakers are gone for good as only Oko Jumbo
is recognized as the right speaker.

And he will be impeached before he returns from Abuja. Fubara knows what he is facing but you don't. The fact that he hasn't been impeached yet is that he hasn't fall flat.

He knows the weight of what is being thrown at him. If he didn't counter them with his own drama, he will be gone sharply. They're are confusing him and he too is returning the confusion. That's why he is still there.

You know nothing, Fubara boxed himself to this right corner, he was been lenient with them.

Oshiomole was more ruthless than wike, he was APC national chairman when Obaseki dealt with the house loyal to Oshiomole, few ran back to him, the remaining 15 never smelt that chamber even with the whole court order till he finished his tenure , oga heaven didn't fall. Fubara became soft and lenient with them ,, and that is weakness. He could have crushed them to pieces, that case won't even get to supreme Court, he allowed them ambushed him through judicial rascality. He can still salvage himself, but still playing soft. He has presented the budget but was locked out. I won't re-present it, I'll head back to supreme Court to challenge that issue. You know nothing

The 'softness'from him is too much. Imagine after giving a date to them, he still made it open for them to choose another date in March. Fubara, politics no fit you, abeg.

nobody can impeach Fubara forget the threat, as long as the CJ of the state is with him. He is only trying to obey because of revenue that has been blocked, not because of impeachment. No one can impeach him, quote me, the house is only ranting

That is how the law specified it to be. The date must be agreed by both actors..see section 121 of constitution

Fubara should do the right thing and forget all those people advising him. Fubara is not a true politician, if he has done his home work well, he should have been able to convince those lawmaker and other people who are loyal to wike to his side, with only that single move, he would have clip wike wings.
