Ndubuisi, an only child of a widowed mother, was shot and killed on February 28, 2025, while assisting his mother to harvest cassava on their farm.
A 29-year-old student, Donatus Ndubuisi, who was brutally killed by Fulani herdsmen in Amofia Umuhu Eha-Amufu, Enugu State, has been laid to rest.
The funeral ceremony was marked by tears and anguish.
Ndubuisi, an only child of a widowed mother, was shot and killed on February 28, 2025, while assisting his mother to harvest cassava on their farm.
His father had also been killed by Fulani herdsmen in the community.
Ndubuisi, a student at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) and a Solar Energy technician, was said to have gone to see his mother from Enugu State capital where he was studying.
Unfortunately, when he got home, that very fateful day and found that the mother had gone to farm in their farm settlement to harvest cassava.
Family sources told SaharaReporters that Ndubuisi, fondly called 'Ofunwa' only child decided to go to the farm to help the mother harvest cassava to enable him to comeback and return to Enugu where he was studying as only came to see his mother and know how she was fairing.
While working on the farm, the source said they were ambushed by Fulani herdsmen, who shot and killed Ndubuisi.
The victim's father had also been killed by Fulani herdsmen in the community, leaving his mother a widow. Ndubuisi was the only child of the widow.
Confirming the incident, a community leader, Samuel Ede, told SaharaReporters that the murder of the promising young boy was the height of the carnage that has been going on in Eha-Amufu since 2021 when the former President Muhammadu Buhari unleashed his kinsmen to terrorise the southern Nigeria.
"The boy, Donatus Ndubuisi, is studying here in Enugu and also working as Solar Energy technician. So he went to his village, Amofia Umuhu Eha-Amufu.
On his arrival he discovered that the mother had gone to their farm to harvest cassava. So, he decided to go to the farm to assist the mother harvest the cassava.
He was harvesting the cassava with his mother when some Fulani herdsmen invaded the place.
"So they started running and they shot him at back and killed him. Unfortunately, the boy is the only son and only child of the widow. His father has died and from information his father was also killed by same Fulani herdsmen in the community."
SaharaReporters gathered that the killing of Ndubuisi led to the heart-wrenching protest that erupted in Eha-Amufu, on Thursday, as thousands of women from seven autonomous communities took to the streets to condemn the killing of Ndubuisi, by Fulani herdsmen and also demonstrate against the senseless violence.
The protest coincided with the burial of her son, Donatus Ndubuisi, who was laid to rest amidst tears and anguish on Friday.
SaharaReporters had reported on penultimate Tuesday that women of Eha-Ohala comprising Mgbuji Umujove and Abor autonomous communities protested against incessant herdsmen attacks and killings sacking about 28 farm settlements in the communities.
Shortly after the protest, the Council chairman of Isi-Uzu LGA, Mr Obiora Obeagu took to his social media handles to brand the protest as sponsored by opposition to malign Gov Peter Mbah of Enugu State. He maintained in his post that nobody was killed by Fulani herdsmen in the community.
On Thursday, the entire women of Eha-Amufu comprising seven autonomous communities with over 29 villages took to the street to protest against the gruesome murder of their children and rape of their women.
They branded the chairman of the Council of profiting from their blood.
The protest by the women of Eha-Amufu is a call for justice and an end to the violence perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen in the community.

These same people are the herdsmen killing people everywhere, same people are the bandits terrorizing people in communities and farms, same people are the kidnappers Kidnapping people for ransom. Haha!!!
My only concern is ipob who have made it difficult to separate their activities from these herdsmen. How can your people be suffering from both external and internal aggressions at the same time?.
But you can't blame President Tinubu, he can only equip the military and task them to eliminate these killers. He can't ask them to shoot at sight like it was done in Ghana. The ethnic sentiments in Nigeria makes it difficult to give a shoot at sight order. In Ghana, Fulani are strangers , they don't have any historical ties with Ghana, so it was easy but in Nigeria, there will be chaos if the President gave such an order. , that when the President wanted to move ECOWAS troops into Niger Republic, there was so much uproar because of ethics and religious affinity that the President had to reverse.. This acts of wickedness has to stop.
I was thinking that as soon as the President creates the ministry of livestock, they will down tools and embrace peace but it seems they are even more unrelenting. Now that the President has appointed Prof Jega a special adviser on livestock and there have been some foreign investments to develop the livestock sector in the country, let's see what would happen.

Why are Igbo women having one child?
Simple question.
Why will you not want a brother or a sister to play with him?
This is wickedness on the mother side because it's not like she is barren.

Pls don't blame anybody here, it is not a crime to have one child, you never know from your keyboard the reason for that or the challenges they went through. These same idiots also killed her husband, is it a crime to also have one husband?

I when last year Enugu governor was loud about chasing ESN out of Enugu...
For the Igbos that was against ESN... We are now gradually getting back to why ESN was formed In the first place
For 5 years South East had the lowest Fulani attack...
People said ESN kidnapped them and told them they were ESN like cant you see the obvious manipulation ... They turned majority of igbos against ESN... Weakened them... Now Fulani attacks everywhere
Someone tell governor Mbah to end Fulani attacks the way he ended sit at home ooh
Abube ago has never arrested or killed one herdsman none
Igbos where supposed to be wiser and smarter than this
Ndi Igbos you were played.. The aim is to prevent you from going home for Christmas
Early this year they brought out people to tell you it's a waste to build mansions in the village
Igbos fell for the trick of her enemies now this is the consequences... Now watch those people that called for an end to ESN mock you over Fulani attack

What concerns IPOB with this?
How many igbos living in the south-east have come out to tell you that IPOB is the one killing them?
The governor of Enugu state hates IPOB and ESN more than Tinubu and Buhari combined. Let him go to this kids bereaved mother and tell her that "One Nigeria" is the way..
The problem with you agbadorian mutants is that you think that there are any reasonable people in this country that genuinely beleive your wacky stories about IPOB and co. You lot live in a fools paradise.. Totally oblivious of reality.
Fact is that It's easier to accuse the government of having a hand in the mayhem going on in certain parts of the east than to accuse IPOB. The reason is very simple: why would IPOB or ESN kill an only child helping his mother to harvest casava in the Bush? For what purposes? To achieve what? These are acts of sacrilege in the east, and only non igbos will find pleasure doing so in the east..
So you can shout ESN and IPOB from now till the end of tinubus epileptic presidency, it changes nada...., folks know the truth.. And the truths about those behind all these killings will be made public someday.

Exactly my thoughts..
Immediately they saw those videos of ESN massive training camps those days, they went berserk. All of a sudden we started seeing prison breaks here and there while the police looked bemused. Criminals were actively allowed to run haywire, kidnapping and maiming people in the east. All these were to make it look like IPOB and ESN were responsible. Basically giving a dog a bad name in order to hang it.....,It was well planned and ruthlessly implemented from Abuja and a lot of easterners bought into that narrative.
They way they always jump out to criticize Ekpa and Kanu, you will think the two are responsible for the misery in Nigeria. Everyone had his own "non violent" idea about how to engage the federal government on issues related to the marginalisation of the east. It was as if Simon Ekpa and Kanu were standing in their way. Ekpa has now been locked up for months. Ditto kanu. Violence has escalated in the east, and all of them, including the loquacious eastern governors who do not want to drag attention with anyone are quiet...Very unfortunate..

Civilian t task force are recognized by the Government. Can't you see the name?. They work hand in hand with the military. Who formed ESN?, who gave him the authorization?, which Governor of SE recognized it?. Same thing that landed Bello Bodejo in DSS custody for forming Fulani vigilantes and arming them.

Try dey get sense.
Having a single child is not an easy task. Just because some women can give birth to 2 children in 3 doesn't mean it easy for every woman like that. Ovulation only occurs for few hours in a month. Some people don't conceive easily.
