942 billion to conduct a census! Remain small, they want a trillion naira to count the number of people in the country with a view to do what with the figures? Awww... Let just count the number of Nigerians for counting sake... Oohhhh... Make sure you count the people in the North twice cos we need to keep up the facade that the North is densely populated... The only country in earth that claims majority of the population lives in arid lands. Then we use the population figures for nothing |

Yankee101: Budget allocation and budget performance (money released) are two different kettles of fish! If you allocate 10k of a budgeted 100k income to data, and your income come drop to 89k your budget performance for data no go change?! |

ufotunang:What you just wrote is absolutely correct. You and I know they will never do it because it would not allow them to steal funds if they can channel all the funds to such projects. They would rather embark on nonsense projects. |

Honestly, this is the reason regional government is important because...if there is adequate structure in the country...all these data could have been collected at birth...I have yet to see some of these developing or developed countries come out and say that they wanted to have a census program...this is the Stone Age program during the time of King David in the Bible. With enough IT systems, all of this data could be collected at some point, but some people in the country refuse to grow, so the emir's country must wait for them to experience such development in order to catch up with global trends and development. I am concerned for future generations, who will suffer as a result. |

Offpoint1: You dey Jons? SS1 not JSS1 o. You dey whine me. It be like say your eyes don dey pay you. What the laughter all about. Is 18years too old to be in SS1? You think say back then na now wey every small Tom and Harry dey jump class? I finished secondary school 20yrs old that's after starting all over from JSS2 even though I had written my junior secondary school examination. Because I changed school, I have to start again from JSS2. Gained 5 issions in total in the university different years, but turned 3 down. Accepted 2. I no be your mate for school. We went through the process step by step. We no jump class like you. Una wey dey jump class any how through private schools. |

Offpoint1: But you and I know the normal age that a child is allowed to start school in western world is 5. Fact check. It's only in Nigeria patents do push children to start school early cuz the system is not regulated like the west. For you to finish secondary at 17 means, you jumped classes and got everything on a platter of gold. That's what they do in private schools. They will you even though you didn't merit it, just to show parents that you are doing well. You finished too early. But for us, we went through the process step by step. We were not spoonfed to jump classes or to the next. The main hard work is in government owned schools where they will teach you what it means to work hard. That's why till date, I will prefer my child to go to a federal university to have a taste of how hard the outside world is. So he or shed won't grow up as a soft child who will easily chicken out of every little challenges he or she may encounter in life. |
Offpoint1: 7:47pm On Mar 09 |
Mcslize:I know the school age of the west. I was not spoon fed, I've never attended private school in my life. I wasn't born privileged, I grew up in a village and as that time there was no school in my village. We walked 2+ hours to nearest government school "close" to us. We left daily as early as 5am, got school 7am and had to sweep the school, fetched the heaster water, sweep his compound and do chore for him. Those days heaster have their residence within the school and only go their home on weekends because of distance. I started school at 5 and the criteria then, you'll have to crossed your hand above your head and let your fingers touched your ear. I didn't repeat class nor jump any. There was nothing like jumping class during my era, you fail you repeat. It doesn't matter how many years you repeat. |

Offpoint1: If what you wrote here is true, then you are among the few that can withstand the challenges of life. Any way, as for me, I failed up to 2 times and repeated primary 1 twice before I picked up. I can when after exam, they will fix a day to call results. They will call first position, second position, third position till the last position and I won't hear my name. I will start to cry. It was the third time that I picked up and I became one of the best in my class. I picked up that momentum till primary 6. Wrote my primary 6 exam and started Jss1 in the year 2001. In government schools, no body really send anybody. If you fail you fail. Looking back, it was a memorable journey. |
Offpoint1: 8:50am On Mar 10 |
Mcslize:You bring back the memories of calling results, we use to call it "Judgement Day" the most tense days during school days 😂 A lot of tears those days because you'll cry in school and still cry at home if you fail. ( The crying at home isn't because of beating, but because mocking by your siblings and friends) I was lucky to always be among top 3, can still gifts (mostly pen/pencil and books 😂) School was fun, not what we have these days. There was nothing like lunch money for us, during break we go into bush in search of fruits, palm canel and sometimes raw cassava 😂... After school, we head to the stream. |
Mcslize: 9:26am On Mar 10 |
Offpoint1: Chaii. Things have really changed a lot. I was not given pocket money even when I got to junior secondary school. Gen Z generation are enjoying now. When you look at all those experiences, they teach us one thing: resilience, perseverance and humble beginnings. |
