However, Senator Kalu took a stand against this, emphasizing that the affected aides were innocent and should not be punished for an offence they did not commit.

"We cannot punish the aides of Senator Natasha for an offence they did not commit," Kalu stated on the Senate floor. "They are staff of the National Assembly, and they have no other farm or means of livelihood apart from the salaries they earn from the Senate. As such, it will be wrong for us as a Senate to deny them and their families their salaries."

The former Abia State governor, now a distinguished senator, ionately moved for an amendment to the recommendation, urging his colleagues to allow the affected staff to continue receiving their salaries despite their principal's suspension.

While the Senate upheld the suspension of Senator Natasha, deliberations on Kalu’s plea gained attention, sparking discussions on the fairness of extending punitive measures to legislative aides who played no direct role in the senator’s alleged infractions.

First let me state that I am not an APC or Akpabio fan.

But for those saying how can one be suspended for speaking up against sexual harassment, you miss the point.

After S.Natasha’s unruly behavior at the plenary, where she caused a commotion, she was summoned by the ethics committee and when she noticed she was likely going to face suspension for flouting the house rules, that was when she headed off to Arise TV and then to court.

The sexual harassment or assault allegation was a ploy not to face disciplinary actions— and this doesn't mean it didn't happen.

But the timing for blowing off the lid is questionable.

After being summoned and her heading off to AriseTV, she got public sympathy and the court orders restraining her appearance before the committee.

This the senate eventually kicked against claiming separation of powers.

In reaction, she refused to appear before the committee. Yeah! She snubbed the committee. The decision to suspend her for 6-months was taken in her absence.

Now, let me state this:

She had a good cause—which was to stop the senate’s long tradition of reasg seats of senators without their prior notice. But she didn't go about it the right way.

You can't be in a house that thrives on rules and you want to use unruliness to bring it down. Wisdom should have informed her that she could have only had her way by using the same rules. There are some good people who would have seen her case.

But trying to gather public sympathy when you are being punished and ascribing your unruliness to sexual assault is uncalled for.

Her actions must be sanctioned so a wrong precedence isn't set for other senators.— present or incoming.

Everything shouldn't be seen from the eyes of politics.

If your colleague assaults you sexually, you should follow due process to report him/her, not cause a frenzy in an organizational meeting because he/she is the one presiding and reassigned your seat.

No one knows about the assault— it happened behind the scenes. All the house sees is her flouting house rules. Now, they didn't even know why you acted rudely. They heard it on live TV.

Please, all things should be done decently and in order.

The sexual assault would be investigated and if the SP is found culpable, he should face the consequences of his actions.

Yet he wasn't the one that caused commottion in the house, it is Natasha. So her suspension is well deserved.

You are missing the whole thing. She's suspended for her unruly behavior when her seat was changed. She refused to defend herself when the committee invited, infact she refused to attend.
The sexual harassment case has been submitted to the ethic committee and no result is out on that.
Natasha wants separate rules for herself and that's not healthy for the Senate, the Senate is bigger than all the Senators. How will you not stand up during the Senate President procession into the Chamber, of you can't obey the rules, how can you make laws?
