Hello guys, please I made this post about a month ago and I didn’t get much engagement as to what could be the issue… I have been observing the batter for the last one month and it has gotten worse. Now the battery doesn’t charge above 58% as at yesterday. I have called the technician and he doesn’t seem to know what is wrong either. I have only used the battery for less than 2 months now and I don’t know what the issue could be… Please anyone who can explain to me. I’m thinking that it’s probably an error from the factory and the technician has informed them about returning it.

Hello guys… I got an SMS Gold 15kwh lithium battery in mid December and it’s connected to a 10kwh sms hybrid inverter with 20 550w solar s. I have been using the system without any issues for a month plus until last week when I noticed that it does not charge beyond the 5th bar (the battery had 6 bars). About 5 days ago, it charges up to 85% before it stops charging, 2 days ago it charged up to 82 before stopping, yesterday it stopped charging at 77% despite the fact there was still peak sunlight around 1.30pm. I observed that once the battery gets to the 5th bar, the PV immediately drops to like 200w from like 3500w just like it does when the battery is already fully charged. What could be the cause of this? Are the battery cells being damaged or what? Please I need help with this. It’s been frustrating for me because there’s been peak sunlight where I am and my battery will just stop charging around 1pm.

What voltage is that 58%
If the battery is charged to the point it disables charging. Connect an AC watt meter to ur inverter output and see if u can pull anything close to 13kw b4 ur battery goes off. While draining ur battery, make sure both solar and AC charger are off. Let's see the result.

Thanks for your response bro. But I honestly do not have the facility to do what you’ve asked. I’m not a professional technician, just a consumer. But the voltage according to the inverter is usually around 53.4V when charging cuts off.

Yeah, that's not good. 53.4v isn't anywhere 100% SoC.

Probably a balancing issue?

LFP batteries should not Float.. you are using some default battery profile settings. Most installers dont change anything.

First Change the Setting 05 to USE..

Set your CV to 57.6V and FLV to 57.6V

Did you build yourself, you need to state the Capacity of your batteries.. there is 12V 10AH battery and can go higher as 1000AH..

I do charge with 0.2C using Grid and 0.4C using Solar.
14 ~ 14.4 depending on cable loss, for Bulk and Float, cut off 12V

1. The 220aH tubular has likely been mislabeled and isn't actually 220aH.
2. Even if it's actually 220aH, when you factor in DoD, usable energy is about the same as a 100aH lifepo4 battery
3. Lifepo4 handles 0.5c charge and discharge effortlessly, tubular is more around 0.2c
4. Lifepo4 will bounce back much better after being heavily discharged. Tubular won't.

There's no reason to buy a tubular battery in 2025. Even a cheap, Grade B lifepo4 battery is better than tubular.

If the battery voltage usually gets above 53.4V before cutting off the charging, then your BMS is already in floating mode but the BMS is not calibrating the % counter to 100 before cutting off charging which is usually the issue with most of these BMS.

morning chief, please I have custom built lfp battery with the upper bigger terminals as the inverter or discharge ports, and the small bottom terminals as the charging ports like solar and chargers.

It's a 105ah battery capacity, can i add a cworth 100ah lfp battery to it in parallel to increase my capacity? Can they be compatible?

If yes, which of the terminals do I run the parallel connection from?

tongue tongue I don de tire at this point. Was using my inverter last night when nepa decided to show small love. See me see problem, I decided to go and recharge meter small. 5mins later I'm perceiving something burning and lo and behold the smell is coming from my setup.

Now I can't use the inverter with the battery together. Unit only supplies power if I'm going through PV/AC input to house, but shows error 09 (bus soft start failed) when I try to use battery.

Please who can assist me with this or knows any verified installer in Uyo to help look into this?

Your inverter has a short circuit, a damaged component.

To fix it, you will need to decommission and send to repair/service centre.

Sadly you were not in Lagos, my spirit was just interested in your set up from start..

If you can share some pictures of connections, it may help. Hybrid inverter are sensitive to wrong connections, and settings.

I had the same issue with my SMS inverter. I think some mosfets are bad,
I was able to fix mine under warranty. However, I took it to Alaba myself.
