maasoap(m): 9:03am On Mar 05 |
Tooreda: Even before the increment, I don't normally subscribe unless it is holidays. They wouldn't concentrate on their studies. Each time gotv and startimes called me, that has been always been my response 2 Likes |

Initial gragra from our rubber-stamp representatives, very soon they will surely drop their quotes for DSTV and the saga will be over,at the end of the day the powerless masses continue to suffer the brunt.Anyway, lest I forget, please where is the consumer protection agency?

bixton: So you will reduce prices and sustain losses because people are poor. Got it that dstv content that it airs, the prices.are increasing too |

tabaralph: What pained me most is the way they are stealing by trick why is it difficult for them to make pay as you use just like call credits and not this fraudulent manner whether you use it or not after 30days it's gone |
Kooyepeju01(m): 10:27am On Mar 05 |

tabaralph: DSTV is struggling in south africa against American streaming giants like Netflix, Paramount and Disney plus. |

Who even subscribe to DStv again? Yeye ppl with their yeye tariff hike every time. If they see that more ppl are not using it again them sopoz get sense except their only target is for the super rich - president, governors, ministers, senators, CEOs, etc

Bondinus:Yes. Exactly. The investigating committee will be settled and that's all. |
Kewekubosineh: 12:16pm On Mar 05 |
tabaralph:You are right. South Africa will never allow such industry to thrive. Ask Nduka Obaigbena of This Day Newspapers whom they frustrated to establish a branch in South Africa because he was a Nigerian. |
Kewekubosineh: 12:18pm On Mar 05 |
Oakenshield:Yes o! |
Kewekubosineh: 12:22pm On Mar 05 |
malali:Don't trust the investigating . The would collect bribe and Keep quiet. If they could strive to collect N4MILLION each from vice chancellors of Nigerian universities to have their Budget sail through, nothing else they cannot do. It's the most corrupt chamber since inception of our democratic experiment. |
malali: 12:26pm On Mar 05 |
Kewekubosineh: Lets watch and see what happens.....lol The thievery and corruption is worse because of the failed economic policies.....we are all buying from the same market.Even though they make more money but they also have more dependents. Because their policies have made everyone poor. The minute people know you are a rep or senator, they automatically start begging you for money. |
Kewekubosineh: 12:31pm On Mar 05 |
malali:Hmmmmm Ok |
MadamExcellency: 12:46pm On Mar 05 |
donforeign: Not cheap with the recent increase in data subscription and HD/4K streaming. |
nairalanda1(m): 12:49pm On Mar 05 |
Kewekubosineh: They may, but the fact is, the cold reality is that DSTV has no choice. The cost of airing their content is increasing. Over the years, they have lost channels on their platform because the channel owner demanded a higher amount of money. Premier league is also a very expensive proposition (HiTV collapsed in part because premier league rights and Champions league rights were eating a lot of their income). SO, they would probably tell the HoR the cold reality, and the HoR would agree with them. End of discussion. Sure government forced the telcos to reduce prices, but there is a law that allows them to do that. |
HeroicMeastro: 1:15pm On Mar 05 |
adenigga:What of other cable tv networks? |
Kewekubosineh: 2:28pm On Mar 05 |
nairalanda1:No,Hitv didn't collapse because champions league rights were eating a lot of their income. They closed shop because of corruption and mismanagement. The MD diverted the money and failed to maintain the workers. I know about this. The Truth is Nigerian managers always fail in an enterprise like this. They embezzle the money and flop the business. South Africa doesn't like Nigerians. They would frustrate any businesses coming from Nigeria. Ask Nduka Obaigbena of This Day Newspapers. But they always have field day here and their businesses thrive. Anyway, it's better to boycott the Pay Channel because of excessive taxation. |
Poepgat: 4:00pm On Mar 05 |
tabaralph: Dangote is doing good in South Africa. Truth is Nigerian companies prefer environment that does not have regulations for example a Nigerian was arrested in South Africa for storing platinum mineral worth 50 million and he started screaming xenophobia because he comes from environment where there is no regulations.in South Africa Nigerians if not in scams and drugs they prefer to go into salons , street vendors, churches, scrap metals, clubs and many more less regulated businesses where criminals strive . Nigerians don’t like regulated industries. |
nairalanda1(m): 4:59pm On Mar 05 |
Kewekubosineh: Well they also could not afford to pay for the right to epl and champions league because they had poor subscription numbers. Not enough customers to break even. Yeah the owner was living too large , but the main reason was cash was not enough to keep up. Even if he and management were not corrupt. SA has foreign companies like Netflix and Disney plus operating streaming services which is causing dstv to lose money Also compared to other African countries we pay less |
bixton(m): 6:09pm On Mar 05 |
nairalanda1: Is there any business( this kind of businesses) that actually sustains loss given a year or quarter in Nigeria? |
Kewekubosineh: 6:21pm On Mar 05 |
nairalanda1:Thanks 👍 for the insight information. |
