Anambra State is the only state among all the states in Nigeria to reject a World Bank loan in 2024,
Anambra State has once again set the pace as the only state out of Nigeria’s 36 states to opt out of the 2024 World Bank loans (NG-CARES).

Governor Chukwuma Soludo, in his latest statement, emphasized the state's financial transformation under his istration.

"We have been able to reengineer the state finances from a financial struggle state to a financially sustainable state," he declared.

This bold move signals Anambra’s growing economic independence and strategic fiscal management, ensuring a future free from unnecessary debt burdens.

No be to make noise about fabricated IGR and you can't fund a project without borrowing, come to Anambra state and see massive projects going on across the state despite the fact the governor is yet to borrow a kobo from anywhere,, Gov Soludo has so far reduced Anambra state debt by 58% from 2023-2024, recruited 8115 teachers and 1350 medical personnel, declared free education from primary to secondary, free antenatal care and child delivery across government hospitals in the state, empowered thousands of youths

One of the greatest things that happens in a life of a state or organisation,is to have the right foundation.Anambra state has been programmed in such a way that any governor that comes in,must either continue with the existing foundation laid by Peter Obi or try to even do better in financial management as set by Peter Obi...Kudos to Prof.Chukwuma Soludo for continuing in this trajectory,he has truly proven himself as a former world bank director and a renowned economist extraordinaire. This is a case of a round peg in a round hole.

Aptly put. Those states who like to raise dust around their hefty IGR will still be the first to run off to beg for crumbs from lenders. Anambra people in general are financially responsible from Obi to Soludo.

Well, Obiano's performance was very poor. He literally abandoned Anambra infrastructure which is why our infrastructures collapsed under his istration.

It's very deplorable what Tinubu family and their cronies are doing today that state. It's like they swear it will never be well with Lagos sate. That state generates so much money it should be competing with Johannesburg, SA. But because of Tinubu Lagos is a cesspit enabled by tribal bigots who are more concerned with Igbo business than how Lagos is ran....pitiful

Imo has never elected a proper , a technocrat nor an intellectual since old Imo when Mbakwe was the governor. In fact ,Imo doesn't boast of many great minds, today. You can point them out because I don't know of any one.

What's wrong with taking loan ?
There's nothing wrong with loan as long as it will be use for something productive.

You think Dangote would be able to built that refinery without loans even though he is the richest man in Africa?

You are just financially daft, there's no rich business man in the world that is not taking loan in fact there's no developed country in the world without debts even China, taking loans give you access to more funds and increase your productivity, no wonder Oyo state have more VAT than the whole East, It is stupid thing that won't increase your productivity that you propagate and celebrate.

Anambra is far bigger but couldn't measure up to Oyo in both VAT and IGR, you are just a typical simpleton lol

Right now there is almost no big business in Nigeria without a base in Ibadan Oyo state, check very well you will always see Ibadan among list of bases of business that are present in Abuja and Lagos.

It is statistics like VAT that determine where some businesses will situate their base in Nigeria because high VAT signal the level of products being purchase in a state.

He has been siphoning it for over two decades and counting through a blueprint conduit pipe he built, connecting the coffers of the Lagos State Treasury to his personal pocket.

You are not alone. That modafoka has brought the state to its knee. Whenever I read stories about Anambra and Enugu governors, I just pause whatever I'm doing and think about my state.

Makes zero sense to me..
We are against "corrupt borrowings", but that doesn't mean that we are against borrowings of all types. What do I mean?
Anambra state has alot of projects to do. So if soludo has lots of healthy projects in mind and he feels that he needs to borrow to fund those, I will encourage him to do so. Why? He looks a bit more polished than most of the political hyenas angling for the job of Anambra state governor. Atleast, he looks like he will not embezzle such funds, and he obviously has the financial background to manage such loans effectively to achieve desired results.

But such can not be said for say Hope Uzodimma in Imo state or Sanwo Olu in Lagos State. APC as a party is desperate to hyjack all state houses in Nigeria to create a one party state. These APC urchins are bound to fiddle with such funds and may end up swallowing everything if they are the ones at Anambra state government House. If soludo refuses to borrow all through his term based on principles, there is a good chance that the guy coming after him might even be far more financially wreckless and will go ahead to borrow the same funds and squander them without these projects being done..

If you are not Dumbo you should know that IGR and VAT doesn't measure economy, most of the IGR figures are fabricated by state governors to be able to borrow money from local or international lenders

That is a sign of directionless government. The government doesn't know what to do with world bank loan because there are no development plans on ground to put the funds into use and do quick pay back. Even USA being richest in the world still borrow money. When you have capital project and infrastructure in sight beyond state financial capacity, there is no way you wouldn't borrow to finance them like FG is doing, but because the government is directionless and has no capital project except petty petty projects, it will continue to brag in ignorance. Tell Anambra government to finance deep sea port, railway infrastructure across the state and many other big investments. Building houses and building few kilometer roads are petty petty projects. Government should wake up to invest in big projects by sourcing for loans and judiciously make use of them, bragging on ignorance does nobody any good

Nothing is happening in Oyo to you because of your intensional ignorance, there's no big business in Nigeria without a base in Ibadan and even some popular goods and products in Nigeria are being manufacture in Ibadan.

Popular foreign fast food service and even mall operates in Ibadan, like ShopRite and Pizzahut, even Jumia delivery in Ibadan, Oyo state is as fast as Lagos State and it is also one of the cities that enjoy free delivery on Jumia.

Ibadan in Oyo is also one of the cities in Nigeria that MTN have 5G coverage no where in Anambra.

You think all these businesses are blind like you lol?

Very good. The best state in Nigeria. But why are Anambra indigenes slaving in Lagos? Why did even your ex governor and lord Bitter Giringori Obituary run away from Anambra to hide in Lagos.

Before you tell me that it is because Lagos was the Capital, let me remind you that Olusegun Mimiko lived in Ondo, Olusegun Osoba lives in Ogun, Rasheed Ladojoa lives in Ibadan, Kayode Fayemi lives in Ekiti, these and others are former governors in Yoruba land, they didn’t run away from their states to live in Lagos despite all of them having different businesses in Lagos and not like fake drugs and food distribution that your Anambra god Bitter Giringori Obituary is doing
