PRESS RELEASE

SUPREME COURT JUDGMENT ON RIVERS STATE FUNDS AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT ISTRATION

We have taken note of reports in the media regarding the recent judgment of the Supreme Court concerning the funds of Rivers State and the istration of local governments in the state.

At this time, we are awaiting a detailed briefing on the implications of the judgment. We will carefully evaluate the situation and determine the next steps to take in the best interest of Rivers State and its people.

Though we have not gotten the details of the judgment from our legal team, we en Rivers people to remain calm, law abiding and go about our legitimate businesses as we seek clarity on the judgment.

We believe that the determination of the main issue of defection of the 27 lawmakers is a matter not before the Supreme Court as it is pending at the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt. Since the issue of defection wasn't on the table before the learned Justices, in their eyes, Amaewhule and the 26 others are still operating as lawmakers until that matter of defection comes before them.

We assure you that we remain committed to upholding our mandate to protect the best interest and the rule of law in all matters affecting our dear State.

Signed

Warisenibo Joe Johnson
Hon. Commissioner for Information & Communications

Wike na Tata, politics go teachan.

The power vested on a governor is the same as the president, the only difference are that the president controls defence and intelligence, and supreme courts

Tell your parents to ask for refund.

They said that's why the supreme court ruled, not because they have accepted wike judgement.

Me I am still confused because I know a case was withdrawn to avoid pronouncement of their legitimacy or otherwise, but as it is now in the eyes of the law they are still legal . Although they have foolishly grounded government source of revenue as a federation , I think it's high time we talk about resource control so one Judge would not be seating in Abuja thinking he can deprive people of their God Bless resource that is paying his salary.

I don't really understand what Wike people are celebrating

The local government election would be re conducted

As for the allocation that's a small matter na

The main issue is the federal high court in rivers should be fast and judgement

Oga learn to read, no judge is depriving anyone of anything.

Even secondary students know that the Executive is only allowed to spend when they have presented their budgets to the Legislative arm and they ok it. 3 people are not enough to represent the legislative arm when no mass disaster occured and God did not suddenly take the others away like Elijah.

As for the LG elections, again he needed to follow the extant laws and failed to do so for selfish reasons. Abuja cannot be sending money to people in the Local government that are not recognised by the constitution.

This is not rocket science or juju...it is simple government 101..... Fubara chose to be led and deceived by cowardly people who have never won a fight single handedly on their own and now managed to make a barely literate Wike look like a first class professor in law.

This case is still very open. The most senior civil servants in the LGAs will take control pending the conduct of elections. In the end fubara will prevail whenever the election is conducted. As for the legitimacy of the 27 lawmakers it will be tough for fubara now because until the case is finally decided he must work with the 27.

When will this Rivers matter end?
To me, people are just given something to drink over, the battle is about who to be in charge of the pot of soup of Rivers state.

At the end, they will settle the matter in their coven and the masses will be at a loss as usual.

I've stopped giving myself headache over politicians matter.
