Good day, fellas. I don't really understand our Nollywood movies anymore. Is it that they are now clueless on what movie they should produce? Selection of characters= Zero. Story, title= zero. What are they even acting for God sake? Their movies are so predictable. No suspense, poor action, poor ion, unnecessary delay in a scene etc, unlike movies of those days. Na so, so copy, copy. Lol, i see their movies like a mere children drama. You rarely watch a Nollywood movie that is interesting. It's very rare. I prefer Telemundo movies to theirs.

Why you interested in that...?

I grew up with older people though so my views are a bit 'older'.

In school I was always the youngest in class because I started quite early. And I during my service year I was called 'last born' because of my age.

The other person closest to me in age then was at least 5 years older than I.

I still won't tell you my actual age though! tongue

The poor guy always crave travelling to the city to become a millionaire.

99% of these movies always portray a mother insisting the son goes to the city to become rich.
I know it is benin city in my imagination the always go to become millionaires since they don't mention the name of the city again

They keep on recycling same movies, and copying from themselves. Their selection of characters is zero. For God sake, how can you use the likes of Brain Jotter to play the role of a King in a movie? Isn't that a comedy skit? In the movie, the dude was even telling the elders to dance his trending skit song, "gwo, gwo, gwo. grin

Their movies lack suspense and irrellivant wastage of time in a scene just to make the movie boringly last long. grin They aren't after the quality of their movies. They are just about the money.

OP, Blame Ruth Kadiri and her YouTube movies.
They use ONLY 5 persons to act a Movie. One Man, his wife, his Housemaid whom is seducing him and maybe the Gateman. undecided

Pple were Hailing her, not knowing they are Killing the Industry.

Also, like I have onetime said (which some nairaland Tribalists called me Igbo),
all these Funke Akindele and Kunle Afolayan Cinema newbie movies are just OVERRATED.

They lack Originality and the directors just seems to showcase their Wealth and achievement. undecided

They will be acting a Secondary School scene and you will see students with Laptops and notepads.
How many Secondary School have such things in Nigeria?

EXACTLY.
In the Days of Mr Ibu, Sam Loco and Aki and Pawpaw, A Poor man live in a room that befits that status.

But particularly these Cinema movies, They DON'T portray things well. sad

An Akara Seller on the Roadside will wear Expensive dresses, Rolex Wristwatch, with a Heavy Makeup. undecided

How many Akara Sellers do such

There are still few that are good.

There is one I watched last week or so.

I think the name is "the office" - were a woman mistakenly slept in the office due to work load and was attacked by demons all through the night.

But in general, hollywood and nollywood movies are crap

Well, my brother did have some DVDs of Mr Ibu and I personally didn't like them because not only did I struggle to understand the accent, I found them to be too loud as well.

And growing up I used to hear stories about how Nigerian movies revolve around witchcraft and other diabolical stuff, that alone made my dislike for them to grow even stronger... It wasn't until 2018 that I came across this Nigerian movie on YouTube that I decided to give it a try and I immediately regretted it because it was horror... I couldn't finish it and I ended up having nightmares on that same night...🤦🤦🤦

I thought I was done with Nigerian movies for good until I saw a trailer for Blood Sisters on Netflix back in 2022 and even though I was sceptical at first, but the trailer looked interesting and I decided to give it a try... When I tell you that I was shocked at how good the movie was, from the production, the visuals, and the actors... I wanted some more.

Another Nigerian movie series that had me hooked was War: Wrath and Revenge... I had to repeat it like four times.

You didn't think it was boring when the prince/heir to the throne always fall in love with the village pauper's daughter (i.e Ramsey Noah/Rita Dominic, Jim Iyke/Genevieve Nnaji etc)?
