The Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, has revealed that the Lagos-Badagry Expressway undergoing rehabilitation and expansion into six lanes has been targeted for completion by April.

Umahi disclosed this during an inspection tour of the highway project on Thursday.

Umahi said that the 46km stretch of highway, which is the first section of the ECOWAS Road to Seme Border and Abidjan, would be ready for inauguration by President Bola Tinubu to commemorate his second year in office in May.

The minister said that the contractor handling the project had been paid N50 billion out of the N71 billion total contract sum.

According to him, the contractor has demonstrated a high capacity to deliver the project by the set timeline.

Umahi said, β€œThe contractor has been paid about N50 billion; it means that what is left to complete the job is N21 billion.

β€œWe have scheduled a meeting with the contractor to discuss how to finalise the remaining four to five kilometres before April 20.”

Umahi also said that the second section of the foad terminating at Seme Border would be done with concrete pavement.

He said that a proposition would be made for the Border States to complete their sections of the ECOWAS highway project, terminating at Abidjan.

The minister of works commended the President for working on about 270 inherited projects across the country.

He said the projects were earmarked for inauguration in May.

How can we be celebrating the expansion of roads in an era where other countries have suboceanic road tunnels, supersonic trains, shuttles in space, humanoids, medical advances and super-suspended extra-long mountain bridges?

And to think we've not even achieved 24hours of constant electricity, or functional ambulance services makes the sad reality of our dear country struggling to catch up with other country's long forgotten past.

A country where it's leaders inaugurate petty road construction is worse than a village in Benin Republic.

Wow, so this road is going all the way to Abidjan, we already have one from Cross River to Cameroon, another one from Enugu to Bamenda in Cameroon. So, why the noise over the Katsina -Maradi road?. Nigerians are hypocrites.

That road that was started in 2010 will not be completed in 2027. Unless Tinubu the failure will use propaganda to commission a road nowhere near completion

He's ignorant, he is talking about supersonic, suboceanic, humanoid, bla bla bla.. Ask him the budgets of those countries compared to Nigeria's budget. We're gradually fixing our long battered system. Anybody that wants a SubAtlantic road or a flying train should open a Trust fund for the FG. Better soup na money kill am.

I read it but I'm telling that that road will not be completed. They'll use propaganda to look for a small section to commission. I stayed in that axis from 2014 to 2019. That road started in 2010 or earlier

What do they mean by unveiling? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Anyone plying that route knows that's a project that has been funded for over 15 years. So, what total did they pay? πŸ€·πŸΎβ€β™‚οΈ

Who's this retarded mofo?. You wanted to divert the credit from Nigerian Govt by saying it was ECOWAS project and I corrected you that it was funded by member states including int'l lenders. So, what's my business if it started in 1942?. The Lagos-Badagry corridor of the project is almost completed and will be unveiled by May, yet you're still talking nonsense, are you sick?.

FYI, this era began in 1500, since you've decided to be rigid in your thinking. Which country had achieved 24/7 electricity in the year 1500? Yeah.. That's how myopic your understanding of the use of era there means.

Deliberately misunderstanding facts to convince governments to invest in an alternative to USAID propaganda funding 😐

We will get there also
Those countries didn't reach that height overnight and most of them existed many many years before Nigeria.
You won't expect the government to jettison construction of roads and other basic infrastructure in favour of having shuttles in space e. t. c
Growth requires both positive and negative experiences.
Let's celebrate our government if they did well.... no b everything be criticism

I am not a fan of Jagaban but with this massive housing project going on in 36 States of Nigeria including the FCT ,l think the man has good plans for Nigeria.

Apply here even though you are an artisan or low income earner
