Is this plus what is stolen or subsidy alone.

Fix the system, get rid of the corruption then tell us what the actual subsidy on electricity is... If any!

Dear FG,

Kindly provide a breakdown of the items that were subsidized.

Hydroelectric energy is basically nature at work. It has next to zero waste unlike nuclear energy, just wear and tear which is provided for by paying customers.

In Nigeria people pay for their own meters, run cables from 11kv poles to their homes, repair damaged transformers and ultimately provide auxiliary power for themselves so please what aspect of power is being subsidized and what’s the true cost?

True cost of power is 160-70 naira. Only 20% of customers pay above that, the rest are subsidized.

40 percent of customers do not pay at all.

Result low profits

That is why your local disco cannot afford to buy poles and wires and transformers for you

So which "subsidy" did FG remove that necessitated the last increment 2024 was just some weeks ago

When FG/phcn base there pursuit on cost reflective tariff, on what formular or model did they arrive at ideal cost.

where 5 out of 10 customers pay for a service, cost reflective will never suffice, you will just continue to punish those paying

Who are they subsidizing it for? The electricity we see or the one we don't see?

Majority will argue this but if the electricity subsidy is removed and we have its stability, it will drive production which reduce importation and as a result catapult the value of Naira

I knew the fake news media was lying as usual. But to be honest, PDP is the worst party in the world, how can you privatize NEPA to useless and incompetent investors and started paying them bail outs a few weeks after privatization. It didn't stop there, they realized they made a total mess of the privatization with the new buyers incapable of financial and technical expertise, then they started paying subsidies to ameliorate the effects. I consider PDP the worst mistakes Nigerians ever made.

-Kiss the truth!

No, pdp basically privatized the sector and then refused to let them set prices..

Result, by 2019, power companies were losing as much as 30 naira for every unit sold.

By 2021, three discos could no longer operate and we're taken over by the banks.

Even now, your government continues the price control policy for electricity except for band A consumers

You seem to have insight into program, kindly shed more light.
From what I know, FG generates and transmits. Distribution is covered by DISCOs which aren’t PPPs.

So what exactly does FG subsidize? What is the true cost of generating 1W of electricity in Nigeria and at how much is it sold to the DISCOs?

Oga how did you arrive at that cost to begin with.

80% of Nigerians are below 10hrs light per day, how do you substantiate govt subsidizing darkness.

Do you know before one publicized increment, phcn hike prices from time to time unannounce. no amount of water can fill a basket

Abeggi. This is usually the excuse we are given anytime they want to be clever by half. Where has all the increases of over the years taken us? Are we not still where we were twenty something years ago? What has changed?
Even if you make a Kwh of electricity 1000naira they will still come back with the same old stories.

The reason why you are angry is because you have wrong understanding of the benefits of fuel subsidy removal, most of you think they will be sharing money among masses, but it's meant to create opportunities and give us enough financial resources to develop infrastructures, if you are lazy, it's not meant for you

How when the average cost of electricity in Nigeria is almost at par with America?

There is brazen fraud going on in that sector..

What is being subsidized there exactly ?

This government is a monumental failure, categorized electricity supply into Bands, we hardly get up to 7 hours daily after the hefty pay, what exactly is Tinubu subsidizing. We have been told how much spend on power subsidy per month, can they as well tell us how much spend by our electoral officers on petrol, accommodation, feeding, welfare, medical, tourism subsidies.

Generation is in private hands

So what/who is the recipient of the subsidy?

Petrol (crude) is discovered by geologists, drilled, transported, refined, transported, stored, distributed, pumped out into cars- I can understand the expenses and overhead costs.

Electricity- exploit nature, store, transmit (step up or step down).

Can we see a document of who receives the subsidy and what services they provide?

Who are the "we"?

How does removal of subsidy create opportunities?

What type of opportunities?

Can you give a summary of financial resources that have accrued as a result of subsidy removal?

What are the infrastructure that have been developed thus far as a result of subsidy removal?
